Re: The Very Best Yet Made

Since you asked for "best" and not "favorite" ... the GMP P-40, either the Longhorn or Old Exterminator -- I have both and it's a toss up as to which is "better" . Personally, I like the Longhorn scheme better... but they are both well-made, though I belive the LH has the corrected tailwheel, so I guess that puts it over the top :-)

I'm with you Pappy. Nothing else comes close; second would be the EI Mustangs.

Re: The Very Best Yet Made

I would have to agree with Louie. The best made aircraft I have is the Carousel1 Nieuport 11. It is superb!

Re: The Very Best Yet Made

You all know I am a P40 fan but I have to say the Swordfish tops the lot. Blackfish is my personal Favourite of the bunch. It just shows what Corgi can do if they set their mind to it.

Carousel P40 comes second.

All this may change when my Gmp P40 arrives.

Jim, you will change your mind, oh, yes, you will... (even though that Swordfish is a beauty).

Re: The Very Best Yet Made

WoW! There are some very interesting answers. These help some of us fence sitters sit up and pay attention. I trust what I read from you fellow zinc lovers and I really appreciate the responses. I see alot of Carousel 1 votes. GMP has a strong following I will probably one day wish I had stayed with the 48's. Till then I'll keep loving my 1/48 bi-planes. If I had to add another plane to my vote say if perhaps I never bought the Nieuport I would absolutely say it is ANY Corgi Swordfish model. The wires, the engine, working features like tailhook, retractable machine gun,and folding wings set this model into a whole other tier of detail. The engine and paint are superb. Corgi does have so much ability. I was also impressed with Dragons P-47. I have the Eagleston and it is just a fantastic little model. Thanks for all the comments please keep it going.

I think GMP Longhorn is the very best , plus it is my favorite . I have the desert P40 on the way, so it might change soon. P40 was a very good choice by GMP.

Re: The Very Best Yet Made

A very clever question as you're making us put our heads before our hearts!

Corgi Coastal Command Black Swordfish

Detailed crew, rigging, bomb load, radar radome & aerial, all come together to illustrate what can be achieved in die cast.

Eagles International P-51B, Patty Ann II

(Boy this one is tough -- I see lots of favs for GMP P-40 [I have Old Exterminator], Corgi's Swordfish [I have one], and C1's Doras and Nieport [which I have several]. I can't dispute any of these!! Did I miss a fav for a Dragon P-51? Kind of surprised I didn't see one; BBD is up on my list of favs.)
