British Chieftains in Berlin. Damn those Red Coats and the beginnings of digi-flage.

Re: Camo Carnival

Hey, you warbird lovers out there (and you know who you are). Take a look-see at this ...

This thread is dedicated to the coolest, most sensational camouflage jobs in the world. Post a pic (or pics) of your most treasured warbird arrayed in your favorite paint job. It can of any plane, of any era, with any camo job. Perhaps you'd like to see this finish on a diecast model. Post your pic/s and tell us why it's a winner.

For me, the F/A -18 Hornet is one of the most sexy, scorching, lethal warbirds out there. And since the US Army arrays its personnel in "digital" camouflage-patterned ACUs, a pixilated pattern derived from the Marine Corps' "MARPAT" camo scheme, I figure America's warbirds can flaunt their own version, too (so did somebody else, apparently).

Kinda looks like WWI German Lozenge Camouflage, doesn’t it? Love that stuff.

Anyway, add your own favorites. Have fun!!!

Love that digi-camo scheme on the F/A-18, Gort! Those Marine flyboys do know how to show support and solidarity with their mud-warrior bretherens.

Yeah agree completely that the Germans are just terrific and very innovative/creative in applying those Lozenge pattern camos
on their warbirds, don't they.

Boy, flyX, that’s a whole ‘nuther thread right there. Of all our pilots – Air Force, Navy, Marine, Army – Marine flyboys seem to identify with their mud buddies best.

Probably because they’re riflemen, first and foremost. That’s not to denigrate our other excellent, second-to-none airmen. They’re all first class. But from what I read, given a choice, Nam grunts preferred Marine mud movers over all others. Probably because Marine fly boys actually hit their targets and not the ground crew.

Roger that -- I think going through The Basic School gives Marine aviators a special appreciation for life on the ground!

Nrrrm! Whoosh! Rat-tat-tat!

Gee! Thats one fine looking paint scheme!

Hm, good thing I still got an FM Mackit "build-your-own" F-18 lying around.

Now I finally know what to do with it! Thanks a lot Gort!

Anybody got a clue how to paint digicamo?!

Maybe it’s that insectoid-with-an-outrageous-proboscis disposition that intrigues me, Cardo. Or perhaps it’s the lusty, drop-dead gorgeous nymph look, whipped with fierce, hot-blooded stallion muscle, mixed with carnivorous, flesh-eating menace that does it for me.

Whatever it is, this femme-fatale fighter’s got it in spades.
