Swaps between USA and UK

Hello

I am very keen on the GMP 1/35 at the moment, but I don't like or want to use Paypal. This means that it is quite hard for me to get good deals on them from here in the UK. In the UK , a GMP sells at around £90 in the UK shops, which is quite expensive.

When I see people picking up a P40 for $50 ( £25) in the USA , but having a hard time getting the Corgi 1/32, it makes me think that there is a good oportunity for some Corgi GMP swaping.

It looks like a GMP would cost about $40 to send to UK, while a Corgi will cost £30 to send to the USA. With these postage costs, would the swap be worth it. For Example a UK Corgi Hartmann 109 for a USA GMP Petie Mustang..... would the swap be worth the postage to some one in the USA.

David,

I might be able to do something here, for even cheaper postage. I'll PM you.

It would be a good deal except for the postage on the UK end.. For some reason, airparcel from the US to the UK is fairly reasonable, while Royal mail to the US is pretty expensive..

I believe the USPS is going to revise the rates in the next week or two, hopefully they do not go through the roof.

I hope that any increases will be reasonable as I've always thought that USPS Airmail rates were very fair when shipping to NZ. Postage makes up a large percentage of my diecast expenditure and any large increases are going to severely curtail my purchasing 'power' . (If they rise to UK rates it'll be disastrous!)

I think we can blame this on the crappy conversion rate from pound to dollar - basicly double the cost.

When I first started working for a US company in the UK I think the rate was 1.40 to the pound. It stayed at 1.60 for a long time, but's been bad since 2000/2001.

Ooops!

Cool Re: Swaps between USA and UK

USPS and all other US postage goes up the 15th of May. I have asked repeadely how this will affect the USPS rates, but even the PO's say they don't have a clue. I guess we will all wait until the 15th and find out!
