One handed Mike

Just had carpel tunnel sugery this morning on my left hand/wrist. Has anyone else had this done? Glad they knocked me out for this! Was going to be given a local at first when the doctor first talked about the surgery. Glad he changed his mind. Have to have the right hand done soon too. Since I am right handed, this will be a real chore. Glad they gave me a Rx for a big bottle of Demerol since this hurts like a . Nothing like typing a post with one finger, more or less. Glad I got a big 17 pound box in the mail from Pete's Collectibles 2 days ago or I could not open the damn thing, let alone carry it into the house...lol!

Re: One handed Mike

Mike buddy, prepare yourself for the deluge of one-handed jokes to come your way. Anyone wish to place bets as to when the Skunster will strike first?

Good thing I am above such reindeer games. Get well soon.

Don't worry MikeB, there appears to be no obvious reduction in your typing speed nor your (currently Demerol affected) wit ...

Get well soon

Re: One handed Mike

I had a "hematoma" removed from my left thumb about a month ago. They did a "block" on it, and I was "basically" awake during the entire thing. The thumb was completely numb. I had never had a block before, but since the surgery was only about 20 minutes, I chose it over being put to sleep. Interesting being awake during it. I could "feel" them doing the surgery, but no pain, or feeling at all. I have the beginning of carpal tunnel, but the doctor said it was way too early to do anything. The good news, Mike, is that I have had two friends who had it done, and it made a major improvement in their hands.

Re: One handed Mike

Hope you recover fast, Mikeb. I feel for you (had collarbone surgery back in February).

Hey, I'm headed to Orlando at the end of the month for business, just a couple of days (going to the Air Force Agency for Modeling and Simulations, but they don't do diecast models ). I'll send you a PM about this.

Take care.

Re: One handed Mike

Mike, hopefully you are still able to operate the TV remote & open a beer.

My father had this procedure years ago due to tingling in his fingers & numbness, were these the same symptoms for you ?

Re: One handed Mike

I feel for you Mike. I had my left shoulder replaced 1/10/07, and was typing one handed for quite some time after. What a chore! Of course, on the other hand, I was off work for two months, so at least I had plenty of time! Get well, and take care of yourself.

Gee wizz, Blackie!....Poor Mikey doesn't need anyone having fun at his expense....I once had hand surgery leaving me "one pawed" for a time. I found that an old music stand was perfect for holding the magazine open for me, and I was able to carry on like nothing had ever happened....
