Re: What Military Aircraft have you Flown on?

Hey Kyle... what crew / unit is that in your avatar pic?

I had a chance to ride in "The Dragon and His Tail" but I looked in the eyes of my wife when she very timidly said, "ok" to the price. Dang it! I wish I hadn't looked in her eyes (we were kind of poor then also)!

My dad had just arrived at Pantanella, Italy in Feb 45 - 465BG, 780BS. The pic is of him with the crew he flew over with and the aircraft is called Easy Maid. This was not the aircraft they flew over in though. Shortly after getting to Pantanella all the crew members broke up and I'm pretty sure they then flew as replacements crews.

Re: What Military Aircraft have you Flown on?

Many years ago as a member of 14F Sqn (Northolt) Air Training Corp (UK Air Cadets) I used to get the oppotunity to fly in aircraft from RAF Northolt and other bases.
I flew from RAF Northolt to RAF Wycombe (Strike Command) in Westland Whirlwind (XR486) and the HS Andover (XS794) both pictured above, also a Beagle Basset (XS777)
doing the same thing as in the picture, escorting a Spitfire of the BBMF from
it's base at RAF Coltishall to RAF Little Rissington (10 Sept 71) and 3 other flights in other Bassets.
Pembroke (XL929) to RAE Bedford, we also used to fly DHC Chipmunks with the University Air Sqn at White Waltham (Berks).
Whilst at annual camp at RAF Oakington (16 July 70) I flew in a Vickers Varsity (WL642) and from RAF Lynham a C130 Herc (XV204) while on camp at Hullavington.
I flew in other C130's from Northolt a couple of times and another Whirlwind also.
