Re: Miracles happen! How's 'bout you?

I once paid $30 for a spare Galland 109 and then traded it even up for a DD Spitfire.

I slept fine...

6 months after I started collecting Corgi, I decided that I had too many of ceratin planes and sold them back to the retailer I bought them from.. Included in the list were the Marseilles spinach camo 109, Galland 109, and Aussie Mossie.. Unlike Parsig, I kick myself in the butt on a regular basis..

Hworth there is a saying that sums up the day that you 'gave' away those treasures " some days you wouldn't be lucky enough to get a kick in the nuts"

For me it's more a matter of being in the right place at the right time and timing is everything, and depends how lucky you are at that particular
moment in time. I could site a few examples on here but I won't bore you to death with details. Suffice to say, sometimes finding diecasts (or any other items) at the most unlikely places is what I would consider 'lucky' more than a miracle, imho.

Yeah, I think this thread is getting a bit far from "miracles" and more into "good deals." Not quite the same...

I agree, fly. Most fortuitous experiences are little more than simple dumb luck, the “at the right place at the right time” phenomenon you alluded to.

What I meant by “miracle” windfalls are those that transcend luck, the kind that defy the odds and are just too improbable to be believed.

Well I must say that despite the constant nagging and beatings I have to endure from her, meeting my girl Lorraine was a miracle and the best piece of luck I have ever had, hmm well there was that time I found a Corgi P40 at a jumble sale and bought it for £1.00 but thats not the same,,,,,,,,,,,is it?

Re: Miracles happen! How's 'bout you?

To me the greatest miracle has nothing to do with diecast at all... But life itself.
On Thanksgiving day last year i became a Grandfather at a young age of 43yrs old.
To a healthy little girl and to me that is one of the biggest surprise of being only 43 and having
a grandchild....Man i have a chance in about 20yrs or so to hit the Great Grandfather title..
Maybe just maybe..a Great,Great Grandfather at 82yrs old....
