| I wouldn't mind an Aleutian Tiger, but have no idea which 1:72 of this plane would be the sharper display. On the web all the P-40's look too close to call for a rookie. Same with the 109s, they all look pretty good.
More opinions welcome..thank you. |
Welcome to the club slammer - nice to see new collectors joining our ranks. As to your Aleutian Tiger P-40, if you're talking 1/72 scale you've got two choices: Corgi's AA35205 or Matchbox's version. I have both and they are very nice. Corgi's version is more detailed, has two position landing gear, better packaging, and naturally costs much more. The Matchbox version has only gear up, nice detailing (exhaust and gun stains), and can be gotten on ebay for less than $12.00. Either way, you can't go wrong.
Corgi's Stukas are the best for early versions, but for a late model Stuka, my HobbyMaster version is great.
I like all 3 of my Gemini Aces models (Bf 109F, and Mark IX Spitfire) slightly better than my Corgis or Dragons. As to the P-51s, Gemini and Dragon are tied. Corgi's P-51s are okay, but the others are much better.
