World War I Museum in Kansas City

Last edited by Cavtanker : 04-24-2007 at 12:52 AM. Reason: Adding
Has anyone been to the World War I Museum in Kansas City? If so, how many diecasts are in the gift shop? I'm going there Memorial Day weekend with the Ms.

Here's the website: http://www.libertymemorialmuseum.org/

It appears as if they have the model power Fokker Tri-plane as the only diecast in the gift shop. *Sigh*

Re: World War I Museum in Kansas City

I've never heard of the place, but let me know what it's like. Sounds interesting.

It is the "official" WWI museum in the US. When the Liberty Memorial was dedicated in 1926 President Coolidge delivered the dedication speech which was attended by luminaries such as Marshal Foch and General Pershing. I haven't been to the museum since its reopening despite the fact I live less than an hour away - my two little boys make it a bit difficult for now, but soon - but used to visit it with my father when I was much younger and the memories of sitting at the top of the tower gazing over the beautiful park remain with me still.

You will definitely enjoy it Cavtanker. The museum was recently redone and I've been told by friends it is quite impressive and very thought provoking.

I'm probably about 2.5 hours away driving-wise. I saw a story on the museum on the news, so I thought it was brand new.
