Skydriver goes deep for 3 runs

Althought Aviation and anything related to it is my favorite hobby, softball comes in at number 2.

Today I was fortunate to play in the Atlanta Synagogue Softball League All-Star game. After a dismal season, I went 3 for 3 today with 2 singles. At my last at bat, I tried a different bat and after 2 fouls along the left field fence, I somehow connected and put one deep over the left fielder and had a 3 run Home Run. Not bad for a 45 year old. Final score was 17-5 with our team winning.

The best part was my 7 year old daughter got to see Daddy round the bases with his home run.

Now its back to ebay looking for other planes to add to my collection.

Re: Skydriver goes deep for 3 runs

Congrats, Skydriver! I gave up baseball when I turned 30 and switched to softball and have never looked back. At 36 I still play in 2 leagues but don't have your power I must admit! I can drive it off the fence regularly but I haven't hit one over yet. Can you send me a few tips?

My two sons attend most every game and I LOVE having them cheer me on so I can relate to your experience. Good luck with the rest of the season.

Eric

Nice going, Slugger......I must say I'm quite active in baseball myself...The Red Sox wouldn't be where they are today if it weren't for me screaming at them on my TV and radio all the time.......and yet I have not accepted a cent from them. I'm just in it for the love of the game...

Re: Skydriver goes deep for 3 runs

Thanks for the kind words guys, and as far as giving tips, I am no expert but at my daughters Tee-ball game on Saturday, I kept hearing her coach to tell the kids to "keep your eye on the ball". Thus I concentrated on keeping my eye on the ball.

But truthfully, I have to give a lot of credit to the bat. It was a DeMarini FB1 double wall bat. Double wall bats are illegal in my fast pitch league thus I had never used one, but this time I decided to try one that a teammate had. The bat definatly made a difference. Unfortunatly, they cost about as much as 6-8 die cast airplanes, and I would rather spend the money on the airplanes.

SKYDRIVER SMASHES THAT ONE! IT'S BACK, BACK,BACK.......GONE!!!! A 3-RUN SMASH!!! At least that's how it would have sounded if Chris Berman would have been there for ESPN. Way to go skydriver my softball carreer ended two years ago at 40 but maybe I should reconsider?? Afterall Julio Franco is still a major leaguer and he is 45!!
