"Don't ask, don't tell" (Diecast)

When "Don't ask, don't tell" comes back to bite you in the rear end.

I've stated before that I have a "don't ask, don't tell" policy regarding diecast purchases and my wife. I don't tell her everything I buy and she seems to not ask.

This morning was my 43rd birthday. I'm actually sitting at this computer replying to a discussion, when she rolls out of bed, comes into the office, and places a small gift bag in front of me. I open it up - and based on my acute observation skills - realize it is a gift certificate...........

.....A gift certificate from Tuesday Morning

She was aware enough to know that I picked up some good diecast deals from there. I have to give her that credit. But she has no idea that the Corgi diecast days have been over for more than a year - I'm guessing NEVER to return.

Anyone want to trade diecast for some dish towels? cookware? crappy furniture? anyone?

Those days may return, you never know.... Maybe you should take her shopping there and find something "together" for your house??

Well DADoser, it is the thought that counts and she did make a great effort. Besides, I'm sure you can buy some lovely curtains for your display room and some nice crochet doilies for your models.

BTW - happy 43rd Bday!

My wife says check out the imported sweets and foods section. You might like some tea biscuits or chai ....

Brilliant idea hworth, words of wisdom spoken there from some one who knows how to earn points with his good lady.

Next time you are in trouble these can be cashed in.

Reminds me of the time my former in-laws gave me a $5.00 gift certificate to Bath and Body Works one Christmas....That was all I got from them....

(I wonder if it's still valid)

...Belated Happy Birthday, DADoser!....(and don't get too crazy on your TM shopping spree)

Happy belated 43rd, Doug. Your wife's heart is definitely in the right place, and she obviously put some thought into it.

And as to Skunky's remark above, I think I can top that. On Valentine's day, my Mother-in-Law will send a nice Valentine's Day card to my wife, and would include one of those kiddie school cards for me. Also, on our Birthday (we share the same date), my wife would get $10, and she would send me $5.

Oh well, it's the thought that counts.
