Re: Submerged Fw190 recovered

Why do I suspect this will get more press than the P-38 found off the UK coast did?

While I hear you on the emphasis on all things Axis, Shawn - heck, look at my current avatar - I would submit that part of any emphasis would be the fact their are so few original Axis birds left in any form. They lost the war and their leftover equipment was generally scrapped so a lot of us are interested in salvaging anything we can 60 years later. I understand and respect your stance on the Axis powers but supply and demand also applies regarding historical artifacts.

I agree while I think it's sad neither of these stories didn't attract more attention than they did. Both of those planes recovered are pieces of world history and are becoming more and more rare to find everyday, I just don't understand how people can't appreciate that.

I'm all for preserving the past, lets just remind ourselves and others what this thing stood for. A nice rare find I'll give you that.

Re: Submerged Fw190 recovered

Seems like there have been quite a few finds lately. December issue of FlyPast had an article on a couple of finds off the Greek island of Naxos. One of the finds was a Bristol Beaufighter TF.X JM 225 and the other is a fairly complete Arado Ar 196 floatplane.
