| Re: New Additions to Your Collection Hobby Master and Century Wings continue to raise the bar... On Sunday I picked up CW's VF-211 F-8E NP00 (601468). This model is so good I immediately ordered the launch-configured NP01 (601628), too. Now I have one at home and one at the office! Heh. The fit and finish, and ease of set-up, on the F-8E is fantastic, and I really dig the Fighting Checkmates livery. Also, the intake interior is much improved from the A-7E. I also stopped by Burbank's House of Hobbies on the very afternoon they were unpacking the new HM B5N2 Kate (HA2002) -- thereby saving them the trouble of calling to tell me my preorder was in. As with CW's F-8E, superb fit and finish, and very easy to set up. HM's Kate just has a great look to it -- it's everything a diecast airplace oughtta be. Congrats on another outstanding release, HM! | Re: New Additions to Your Collection Received the C1 P36 in the Pearl Harbor livery on Monday. Very nice addition to my early PTO fighters. THe NMF is a little bland, but since it's the only A/C I have displayed in this grouping with NMF it stands out as a nice eye-catcher. Typical fine job as we all expect from C1,and a great basis for foreign livery in the future.. | |||||||||||||

| Re: New Additions to Your Collection I just picked up the new HM Kate torpedo version and it is sweet sweet sweet. The torpedo is what makes it for me. The bomb version is cool but the kate is a torpedo plane in my minds eye therefore I will probably end up trading or selling the bomb version. It is a great model and once again HM rocked the house. I also got a shark mouth A-10 from HM and another Corgi Predators camo NVAF Mig 21. I got the Crusader this week also from CW as well as the HM Dassault Mirage in the Paris airshow colors. I looked long and hard at the other Mirage liveries and felt the show bird painted with the red and blue stripes really accentuated the beauty and simplicity of the design. Just gorgeous. | |||||||||||||

| Re: New Additions to Your Collection Some truly heavy metal arrived at Folgore Int'l Airfield yesterday, courtesy of Perry Aircraft: Corgi's NB-52 and X-15 combo (AA33504). Staring at the photos on the late, lamented Tricatus site, I could only resist for so long. The B-52 is such an iconic aircraft, and the comments here about the NB-52 were all positive. I have to agree: This is an awesome model! Corgi's chunky design aesthetic works well for the BUFF, the fit and finish are great... man, this model has presence! The X-15 is well done, too, and the magnetic attachment is ingenious. Alas, like many a B-52 raid, there was collateral damage: the wife, who has been tolerant of my diecast collection of late, declared it way too big. I assured her that (a) it's the biggest model I'll ever get and (b) I don't have room to display it, anyway. I'll have to unbox it whenever I want to recreate Scott Crossfield's exploits. My son loves it. Also recently, a plane much more suited to FIA's grass airstrip touched down: Dragon's Galer F4F-3 Wildcat (DRW50234). Love them Dragon Wildcats! Yep -- it's a big fella! My photography skills are rudimentary, at best, and I don't have photos. However, there are good photos of this model here on The Flying Mule and here at Wings900. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: New Additions to Your Collection Thanks to balddude at Skidmarks, I'm now the proud owner of HM's Jolly Rogers Phantom (HA1905). Maybe now the ghost of Jack Ernie will stop haunting me... May I just add to what's already been said about this model on the forum: Man, the F-4 is massive! It's like two F-8 Crusaders stuck together! No wonder it wasn't exactly a twinkle-toes. This is another excellent HM effort; the tail art is particularly well-done. The join lines behind the intake are a bit noticeable, as are the tabs affixing the front section of the canopy to the fuselage (in fact, on my model one of the tabs is crack'd, which doesn't bother me quite enough to do anything about it). And I still wish HM would adopt Corgi- or Gemini Aces-style packaging. Other than that, this is a great model, capturing the presence of the iconic F-4. Also touching down on Folgore Int'l Airfield's grassy airstrip: Corgi's Shuttleworth Gladiator (AA36207). Corgi's Gladiators really are very well done -- little gems. The fit and finish on this one are excellent, and the radial engine looks great. But what I really like about this bird is a minor detail: the contrasting wheels. The red is such a nice touch. So: two more | |||||||||||||
