Great movie

Gentlemen, treat yourselves and rent 'Downfall'. The last few months of the 1000 year Reich and it is truly excellent.

Re: Great movie

Yup, a great film. I have it on DVD and it is very, very good but doesn't quite have the same feel as seeing it on the big screen in a cinema. Also read the book which also very good.

The man that played Hitler was too convincing. very spooky. Did you see this actor being interviewed about the role? It was on the end of my dvd they spoke to all the cast.

This just might be the finest movie ever made about Hitler.

Re: Great movie

I agree with the above sentiments regarding the movie. It was startling in that it showed a human side of Hitler - which to me makes what he did even more frightening than if he had been a soulless, deranged shade devoid of all humanity.

Would make life more paletable if he was eh? Unfortunately most nutters resemble the rest of us/you "normals"..........
I'm sure Uncle Joe Stalin resembled a human being at some point, who was the bigger monster??
Am looking forward to seeing the movie as and when.........

Re: Great movie

Downfall is a stunning acheivement. It makes those monsters all too human.

Anything for a weird life.

Re: Great movie

Agree, amazing movie! Kind of burried away at my local video store. Some of the best ones are like that. The sequence that shows the planning that went into the poisoning of the Goebles children (6) was a bit much for me...or anyone else with kids. Although, what would the commies have done with them?!?!

Gathering Storm and Enigma (Higgins book?) also one copy rentals that really impressed me.

Leigh-Mallory and his big wings! Might as well stay on the ground for all the use they are!

Re: Great movie

Nothing about Higgins books impress me. He's a one sided writer who indulges himself in the glorification of terrorists with, ahem, morals.

Thats a good point Lofty, Hitler was of the same mind as that evil Stalin, and yet I dont seem to have heard much said about Stalin in the media.

This would have nothing to do with the leftist bias in the media, of course...
