There is the true face of NATO. It didn't happen to us so we are not going to do anything. That motto is good until something happens and the U.S. is needed, then it is "Oh we need your duty in NATO". I am not for or against the war. I think everyone short of the Dixie Chiks was for the war in Afghanistan. Don't tell me abou tthe didn't do anything to us, I was at Ground zero in NYC. I saw fire fighters trying to dig ou ttheir buddies with teir bare hands.

Re: A UK view of the Canadian Military

Alph, FVD is a former USAF fighter pilot...He's only temporarily in Germany because of his job.

Yeah, thanks Skunky. Let's not be fooled by the flag on the left here (BTW admin, still no way to fix that?).

In any event, Alph's comment is a bit off mark, methinks, because it turns out the vast majority of Germans would agree with his point of view (and most of "Old Europe" for that matter), not mine. Ah, the irony of it all... (I'm talking about Iraq here, not Afghanistan; I think opinions are somewhat more pro-US on that last one, and many of these countries have troops there).

Dang, MD, don't hold back so much, express yourself...

Just kidding, I'm with you on this, I'm just surprised at your "directness", shall we say. But if you've seen Ground Zero right after it happened, you know what it's all about...

But don't be too hard on NATO, they are helping in Afghanistan, a lot I might say (not so in Iraq of course).

Yeah I get fired up when it comes to that. I don't do so well with being subtle.

Re: A UK view of the Canadian Military

I hear YOU Mustang and the whole issue of dropping both buildings with airliners was a BIG shock! But we should have raked the whole country to find these guys after the first attempt. Now they are telling us to go home and alright let's do it but if they want to mess around and bring their Jihad through Canada and sneak over borders to continue this game I'm sure we could bring back the Minute Men ideology again. Viper I should have known you were in the military and I'm an idiot! I know alot of ragged stuf comes through Ramstien in route to Dover. I had no idea youre inlisted! SORRY SIR!

It's OK Alph, don't worry about it. Although we disagree on this, I know you want the best for our country and that's the main thing. I can understand your frustration with many of the aspects of these wars.

BTW, I am now retired from the military after 24 years as a pilot (some of those years were in desk jobs, unfortunately) and now work for the Air Force, still, but as a civilian.

Re: A UK view of the Canadian Military

It is a lot easier to sit here in the safe USA and be a Monday morning Quarterback, so I try not to question those in charge too much, but I do have some questions.

A little more subtlety in your forum home would be appropriate MD - I've edited your earlier post as it is contrary to forum policy regarding the posting of inappropriate content.

Re: A UK view of the Canadian Military

Didn't mean to break a rule Cardo, my apologies. Just a very touchy subject after my experience.
