Re: Reign of the Gargoyles, one of the worst WWII movies ever

The Duke required a strong director to shine. His best work is with John Ford. When pushed Wayne could act but the problem was lots of people wouldn't push and later in life he just played "John Wayne".

The Searchers is highly regarded but personally I think his best movie is She Wore a Yellow Ribbon.

I thought all of his calvary movies were pretty good, my favorite (based on true story) is The Horse Soldiers. Of course, the Duke never had to face gargoyles.

I liked the Duke he made hundreds of films and played himself in all of them. Oh heck Skunky you would have to bring that one up. Yes I have seen it and I have the DVD. It was the worst film he ever made. The Green Berets was a close second.

How about the flying leathernecks.

I think Jet Pilot is right up in that alley.

Horse Soliders notably being another John Ford directed film.

Another Wayne stinker is the one where he plays Gengis Khan. The Warlord I think it was called.
