Actually, "Gargoyles" a 1972 flic starring Cornel Wilde was pretty good.

I agree.. used to be one of my favs when I was growing up...

Well, jim, I have to say I think the 'ol Duke was much better suited to the 'western' genre of movies than 'WWII' where his acting was just plain embarrassing to say the least..Case in point would be a movie which I'm certain you have to have seen several times, being the P-40 nut you are, "FlyingTigers"........Truly truly hideous.

Re: Reign of the Gargoyles, one of the worst WWII movies ever

I had to watch that movie last night because my wife was going to delete it off the DVR so i watch the whole thing and they didn't even get the uniforms right on the officer jackets.
On the Officers collar jacket it should of had the US pin and Air Corps pin below it.....They had the US pins on them but below it they were all wearing infantry pins not the Air Corps pins There were so many errors i spotted in the movie with their flight gear it's not even funny...That had to be the worst budget movie i have seen in a long time.
Feel bad for Joe Penny being in the movie....I like him he's a good actor.

He was a complete fighter pilot.......Colonel John C. Meyer Deputy Commander of the 352nd.

Whataboutye Jim, Of late I have acquired additional channels to my package (no extra charge) Turner Movie Classics and American Movie Channel are but two. Big John, maybe through no fault of his own, has served up some infantile dialogue in pursuit of victory over the Nips...Kooks N' Japs on land ...sea and air.
As a kid, I loved every movie he ever made. Now in the harsher light of reality,I find his acting ability is somewhat hammy. I'm still trying come to some happy medium by viewing all over again, each of the movies he ever made.

No more hideous than his role in the "Green Berets" - cringeworthy ...

I liked the Duke he made hundreds of films and played himself in all of them. Oh heck Skunky you would have to bring that one up. Yes I have seen it and I have the DVD. It was the worst film he ever made. The Green Berets was a close second.

How about the flying leathernecks.
