Re: Nice Things to Talk About

Hi Cardinal, you're still up! It's 10.30 here and Saturday morning! And wet!

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

MoMo, that article by Michael Portillo that you posted is excellent - George Orwell's predictions in "1984" are sadly becoming reality ...

Yes, Michael Portillo is one of the few existing Conservatives with any brains. That's why the Tories rejected him as a Party Leader!

Instead, they'd rather have a nondescript selection of brainless, chinless wonders who couldn't tie their own bootstraps without being shown how to and ordered!

I can't recall their present leader's name ( it just doesn't register ), but he's prepared to ape any policy which Labour or the Liberals can throw up, or echo any sentiment from the gutter press which will raise the Tory ratings in the polls.

Between the Tories and Labour party, they have killed off politics in the UK.

It's getting to be more and more like American Politics here....God help us!

Britain is now the most watched and listened to society on Earth! The saying is : " You can't scratch your arse without Tony Blair knowing about it ten minutes later!"

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

Hi Skunky and Jim,

I was trying to raise everyone's awareness of the dreadful situation here in the UK. There are now FOUR MILLION CLOSED CIRCUIT CAMERAS in operation round the country. There are laws being enacted which will give the security forces the power to listen in on any conversation on the phone or via email, which they have a mind to.

This is the type of destabilising act which a bunch of religious loonies want. A few acts of terrorism has resulted in George Orwell's nightmare dystopian vision becoming a reality.

BIG BROTHER IS WATCHING YOU !

This still is from the 1954 production of 1984. I was just young enough to be aware of it. It gave me nightmares for weeks!

Now everyone else is having nightmares about it!

Dont forget all those speed cameras, those police with mobile cameras got me last year.
I was on holiday in the middle of the countyside on an open road no houses etc and they lay in wait behind some trees and zapped me doing 38mph in a 30 zone.

A 30 zone in the middle of nowhere I ask you, was that a set up to get tourists or not.

One of the locals said to me, dont worry thats just the Welsh tourist tax!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! GGGGGGGGGRRRRRRRRRRRRRRRR.

That was my first ever ticket in 41 years of motoring.

God Bless America.

Not to mention the spies in our wallets debit cards, credit cards, loyalty cards then we move on to domestic products like our PCs & Sky+ boxes then on to our place of work where you may use a smart tag to gain access to the premises & through the whole day will track every movement you make within the building this can be printed out as a hard copy if needed or e mailed to interested parties in the company.
I do not have a mobile phone but I believe if these are left on then these can be tracked too, CCTV is a double edged sward but sadly essential in these violent & perverted times I am not thinking of terrorists but of crimes against children, through monitoring of e mail & phone calls the police might stand a chance of cracking the child abuse rings.

There present leader is David Cameron. I think this summs up his "I'll say whatever will make me popular" way of doing business:

Ooops!

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

Folks we can argue politics until the cows come home but the number one problem is the politicians themselves.

Whatever they choose to label themselves they are all rubbish, money grubbing corrupt greedy ruthless self centered ego maniacs.

ALL OF THEM, I said this before, since when did any politician upon election ever represent his electorate.

Its a case of thanks very much see you in 5 years or so.
(now wheres the trough so I can stick my nose in).

Hey I think I may have become a little cynical in my old age.

If I ran for election I would be honest and tell the electorate that I am doing this to get loads of money to spend on diecast.

Well at least its true.

God Bless America.
