Re: Nice Things to Talk About

Yet another BTW, my Collie dog called Tramp has discovered a new and wonderful pastime, he sticks his head in the nearby stream and blows bubbles through his nose!! Keeps him amused for hours.
Yesterday, on the way home he ran under an electric fence and got zapped. Lesson learnt you would think, but no, he turned around snarled and bit the fence!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Yup he got well zapped again, I had to grab him before he had another go! Brave or stupid I don't know which.

Hey, I just thought, a cat would never, ever touch an electric zap fence twice. They're too smart. My old cat, Ummagumma, used to touch things gingerly with her paws before having a sniff at them. If they didn't smell like food, she'd bat them around for a bit to see if there was any reaction, or if there was any possibility of having a fun-chase-cat-and-mouse-game with them. If niether of those two preconditions for eating or playing existed, she would lose interest and skulk off to annoy the next door neighbour's dog. This was her favourite pastime.

She would stare at the dog from a high wall until the dog ( Angus ) became upset and started to howl and leap at her. She would then take a long time grooming her silky fur, stopping in mid-lick only now and again to cast one eye upon Angus to see if he had found a way to leap on to the wall. She would keep this up for hours without the slightest twitch of her tail until Angus was completely barked out and knackered and ready for the canine loony-bin.

She would then judge her position, relative to Angus, and do a flying leap to the comparitive safety of our back yard where all bets were off. Angus now had to burrow through a hedge to confront her. She would wait till he'd almost wriggled his way through, then she would leap to Angus's wall again and continue to torment him.

Mutts never learn.

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

By the way, I was ' persuaded' to go shopping with Kathleen tonight to Tesco's Superstore. Of course, the first place I headed for was the Toys section!

I scored another Corgi Warbird. This time I opted for the FW 190 in winter camo. Like all warbirds, it was only £9.99. They all seem good, basic models. I posted a list of them somewhere. They come with the undercart in the 'UP' position and there appears to be no weathering. Still, you can't complain at the price!

Found a Tesco's Superstore yet, Jim?

5.75"

On the 14th October 1943 Nowotny became the first Luftwaffe pilot to achieve two hundred and fifty kills and was subsequently honoured with the Diamonds to the Oak Leaves with Swords of his Knights Cross. He flew this Fw 190A whilst serving as Staffelkapitan of 1./JG54 in the winter of 1942-43. A well documented machine, in stark contrast to the majority of the anonymous and unidentifiable Fw 190s flown on the Eastern Front by all and sundry (there were few aircraft directly attached to specific pilots), this is the aircraft that Nowotny scored his Staffers three hundredth victory of the war. The toned down white fuselage cross was viewed as an unnecessary precaution on an otherwise white winter camouflaged A-4.

Although this kitty was reportedly stuck at the top of a telephone pole for a day and a half
he wasn't too keen on being rescued by well-intentioned firemen, so the little guy took to the
air in an Olympic-quality leap you have to see to believe.
