Re: Nice Things to Talk About

OK folks let's all look at this objectively, it really doesn't matter where in the world you live, who you vote for or who even gets elected. Really in the end the politicians are not in the business of politics for any other reason than to fluff up their egos. Our opinions, educated or not, do not matter to them. Ultimately we can all sit around this electronic stove and kick and criticize every bony butt in the world but you know what, there will always be somone worse off in the world than any of us and we should think about them.

What, like in Canada ? ( only joking, Mapleflag.....I thought that I'd get that one in before our friend in Springfield did ! )

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

Have you visited here, or this site ? Check it out :

he American Air Museum

The American Air Museum in Britain stands as a memorial to the 30,000 American airmen who gave their lives flying from UK bases in defence of liberty during the Second World War, and also honours those who fought in Korea, Vietnam, Libya, Iraq and other conflicts and battles of the 20th and 21st centuries.
This outstanding example of contemporary British architecture houses the largest collection of American warbirds on display outside the United States, including a vintage B-17 Flying Fortress, B-24 Liberator, B-25 Mitchell, P-47 Thunderbolt, and aircraft from the Cold War era such as a B-52 Stratofortress, SR-71 Blackbird and F-4 Phantom, with many suspended from the ceiling as if in flight.

Sally B - The AAM Flagship

The B-17 Flying Fortress Sally B is the official flagship of the American Air Museum in Britain and is permanently based at the Imperial War Museum Duxford.
Sally B is now the only airworthy Flying Fortress in the UK, where she flies as a memorial to the 79,000 Allied Airmen who lost their lives in Europe during the Second World War.

Sally B has been active on the UK and European air show circuit for over 30 years, with the backing of one of the largest supporters clubs of its kind in the world. The aircraft is maintained and flown by a team of dedicated professional volunteers, led by Elly Sallingboe of B-17 Preservation Ltd.

To preserve the aircraft and ensure its future for the enjoyment and education of future generations, the B-17 Charitable Trust (Registered Charity No. 1079007) was established. However, a vast sum of money must be raised every year to avoid the prospect of Sally B being permanently grounded - an unthinkable loss to the world of historic aviation.
Sally B needs your help and generosity to keep her in the air where she belongs.

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

A nice list of info for our American cousins Mo.

I go to visit the museum at least once every year sometimes more, its a wonderful place to sit and contemplate awhile.

I always come away from there thinking just how fortunate I have been in my life, I have enjoyed the peace and freedom that so many paid such a heavy price for.

God Bless America.

Talking Re: Nice Things to Talk About

I've never managed to make it there, but I shall. I'm more familiar with The IWM at Bedlam, London.

I always go to visit T.E. Lawrence's rifle and the JagPanther.
