Re: Nice Things to Talk About

There are no deterrents these days MoMo.....a spell in prison is just a minor inconvenience to a lot of these thugs, the political party that brings back 1950s style discipline on the streets & in prisons will get my vote.....with the ability to convict on DNA evidence for murder these days hanging is long over due for a come back as is the Birch for minor offences.
NIMROD

Perhaps we have to think out our system of penalyies again Nimrod. However, I think that penalising parents might be a good start.

Don't know about the hanging and flogging though. I'm still sitting on that one.

Life for LIFE! Now that's something which members have debated in the past. Kill someone in cold blood and you should never get out!

Mother cats know when to cuff their kittens............perhaps we should do the same thing?

Talking Re: Nice Things to Talk About

Well, going by CNN UK, it looks as if Bill's Ol, Lady is heading for the dustbin of history. The BBC is also saying, after a day of confusion and conflicting messages, that it looks as if the Super Delegates are shifting towards Obama.

This should be good news for our overwhelmingly Republican -inclined membership on the Forum. As posted in profusion earlier on this thread, the perceived wisdom is that most Americans will vote McCain in, rather than vote for Obama who represents the great leap of faith into the unknown void of " Change ", whatever that means.

Speaking from the sidelines, I still don't have a clear idea what Senator Obama stands for. Whereas, it seems very clear to me that McCain has decided to occupy a large area of the political spectum by confounding his Republican allies and stealing some of the middle ground from both Hillary and Obama. Not all Republicans may be overjoyed with McCain's views, but he's the only game in town if you are inclined to the right ( and middle ).

Now the real race begins ( unless, like Christopher Lee, Hillary comes back from the dead ).

" Well, Guys, whadda we do ?

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

Mo, the American political system seems to be a lot more fun than our boring way of doing things.

One things for certain , they have to work a lot harder to get elected than our feather bedded bunch.

God Bless America.

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

But MoMo, is McCain REALLY a Republican? I'll vote for him (country could not afford Obama in my estimation), but I'll be holding my nose while doing so!

What do you mean our country cannot afford Barack Obama aka Barry Sotero? Under his socialist ideals, we'll all get an equal part of him. If he's good enough to be endorsed by Louis Farrakhan, Hamas, and Fidel Castro, who are we to say otherwise?

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

OK folks let's all look at this objectively, it really doesn't matter where in the world you live, who you vote for or who even gets elected. Really in the end the politicians are not in the business of politics for any other reason than to fluff up their egos. Our opinions, educated or not, do not matter to them. Ultimately we can all sit around this electronic stove and kick and criticize every bony butt in the world but you know what, there will always be somone worse off in the world than any of us and we should think about them.

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

All this political banter makes for good TV coverage. It is a useful tool to distract us from the real problems that are facing us. The Roman Empire used this same technique (albeit sans the TV).

And everything turned out just fine for them.

Tongue firmly in cheek, I presume!

Bread and Circuses, Cav? I thought that was what The West was voting for!
