Re: Nice Things to Talk About

DEATH TO CYCLISTS !

Now, many of you would be forgiven for thinking that I would embrace all cyclists as fellow planet-savers ( as opposed to all those greedy, selfish drivers of 4X4s who don't really need them ! ) but I'm not.

I've ranted on about this before, but the time has come again to lambast these selfish morons who insist on using the pavements near my home to make short-cuts and dodge traffic lights.

These mindless turds, yet again, almost knocked me down the other day. You have to have eyes in the back of your head now, in order to survive the streets.

Worse, yesterday one student on a bike dodged me and swerved into an old lady who was just beside me. I let him have it.

In order to keep the peace, I will not record the language which I used. I cast aspesrions as to his mental state and used a well-known anglo-saxon metaphor which one is wont to do in moments of crisis and tension.

When will our Government start to make pronouncements on this danger? Soon, there will be nowhere safe to walk. These militant cyclists may be making a point about the dangers of our roads by insisting on using the sidewalks, but they will gain no support for their cause from me.

The next one who comes near me will get the same treatment................................

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

I heard that when Hillary's daughter went to Iraq to get support, the soldiers all told her their fears. They were in order
1. Osama
2. Obama
3. Your Mama

See ya all in about 15 months!!

Ooooh don't get me on the subject of cyclists MoMo after living in Cambridge for almost 50 Years I am well qualified to talk about their arrogance & stupidity.
Put an undergraduate on a bicycle & it seems their brains automatically slide out of their ears......an audible warning device (bell) should be a compulsory fitment....but then I suppose one has to have a certain amount of consideration for other people to use it .

Third party insurance should be compulsory for all cyclists.....obtainable only when they have proof of passing a cycling proficiency test, as would be the compulsory helmet available only in day glo pink any cyclist not wearing the regulation pink helmet will be deemed to be on the Queens highway without insurance & in such cases the offender will have their cycle recycled (crushed) ...well that will do for now MoMo I dont want to start getting unreasonable .

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

Years ago I was a cyclist. It was for a few years at least my main mode of transportation to college. I did, however, obey the rules. One motorist, however, just didn't like my existance, and the fact that he was stuck behind me for perhaps 10 or 15 seconds before he was able to move into the other lane and pass me, and ended up, and verry obviously on purpose, forcing me off the road into the curb, resulting in minor damage to the bicycle and to myself. Therefore, even though I am aware (I think?) that you'all are ranting at INCONSIDERATE cyclists who do NOT obey the rules, I do find myself a little bothered by it. Don't worry, though, I'll get over it!

Captain, I am sure you would never cycle on the sidewalk or turn in front of vehicles without signaling therefore I understand your discomfort.

You're correct Cap, I was letting rip on the fools who do not obey The Highway Code.
