Re: Nice Things to Talk About

I'd love to own a M4A3E2 with 76mm, or a M36B1 in the WW2 config. not post war.

There must be a few still out there, sunk in the mire. Get your metal detector and scuba gear out !

Shawn, I can guarantee you can get your hands on some slightly blown-up T-72s, T-55s, BMPs, BRDMs. You just have to get the depleted uranium pieces inside of them passed through Customs.

Re: Nice Things to Talk About

Modern stuff bores me and although both the M4A3E2 and M36 were built in limited numbers, thay are real rare.

There are plenty of Shermans on the sea bed at Omaha beach Normandy.
I watched a programme about them a few months ago.

A very sad story.

A Frenchman managed to bring one ashore and it now stands as a memorial to all those brave men that lost their lives on D Day.

God Bless America.

How did he get a sunken Sherman out by himself?

I've been to that beach near where one of the Mulberries was set up. It's dead flat sand, with a gentle slope and a wide tidal reach.

You locate the vehicle. Then you attach a chain. Next, you get a powerful bulldozer and drag the tank ashore. It can be done. I saw the French geezer do it. There are plenty of french people in the Calvados region who make a living from all the visitors who visit the D-Day beaches.

That sounds fine and dandy, but it's not allowed!
