Ok, I would like to start off by saying that this is not a poll, or the means by which to discuss the methods by which to formulate a poll. I know what planes I would like to see put out in diecast, but I have to admit I am curious as to what other collectors would put on their wish lists. To be honest, I would like to know if I am the only person who likes the odd ball planes. The guidelines are simple' 1. WWII planes 2. Top 10 choices in categories of 1/72nd, 1/48th and 1/32nd (If there is another scale preferred, just add it in) 3. There is no such thing as a insignificant plane (Must be significant if you like it) 4. Try to pick planes that have not been produced already ( Notice I said try, it is a wish list after all) 5. There is no guideline 5. As you can see the guidelines are fairly simple and to the point. The whole reason of this is to exchange ideas on what planes collectors and yes non collectors might like to see made. 1/48th 1. M.C. 200 Saetta 2. Fiat G.50 Freccia 3. Fokker D. XXI 4. Polikarpov I-153 5. Curtiss Hawk 75 6. PZL P.11c 7. Ki-27 Nate 8. A5M4 Clauder 9. Curtiss-wright CW-21 Interceptor 10. Caudron C.714 1/72nd 1. Fairey Battle MK 1 2. Blenheim IF 3. Breda Ba.65 4. Blohmn und Voss Bv. 141 A 5. Westland Whirlwind 6. Fokker G.1a 7. Potez 630 8. Fiat B.R. 20 9. Handley Page Hampden 10. Dornier Do.17z 1/32nd Not enought room, so why dream

I too, favor "odd ball"planes so long as they participated to some reasonable extent in WWII. So I buy your first seven 1:72 scale planes, though not necessarily in that exact order, but would replace the Claude, CW-21 and Caudron with the MS- 406, IAR -80 and PZL-23. Since I am not terribly interested in 1:48 or larger sizes, my next choice would be a 1:100 line for the larger planes. However, accepting that this is un likely , I could live with a 1:144 list as follows: FW-200, JU-290, HE-177, Mavis, Emily, Piaggio p.108, Short Sterling, Whitley, C-46 and a SM-82. Interestingly, the new Altaya promotional line will offer six of the planes I have listed. Life is good.

Nice choice with the IAR 80 and also like the PZL-23. What would your total list look like? Nice to know somebody else likes the lesser known planes.

My final wish list for WWII planes will probably include most of the better known warbirds that so far haven't been made in diecast form by a quality supplier. These include the MC-202, LA5FN orLA-7, Yak-9, IL-2m, PE-2, Hudson, DO-17Z, Tony, Frank, Val, Kate, Nick, Betty, etc. I could be tempted to request a Nate or maybe, a P-36/Hawk 75, but this depends on the way our apparently impending and much discussed poll is set up.Don't get me wrong. I really appreciate the less well known planes and have most of them in plastic form.

| Re: What WWII planes would you like to see in diecast? A Stearman in both US Army and US Navy colors for one. Next to the T6, every US pilot got some stick time with it. I don't know who would be brave enough to do it, but it would be great if HM did. I suppose you could also do some post war barnstorming / farm birds with the mold too, not that I'd want one. Also, the pre-war US Army / Navy bi-planes would be great. But we've had that discussion already. Lastly, I'm in the mood for a late war bare metal B-24 from the ETO. | |||||||||||||

Shawn, you are probably aware of this, but the Stearman IS available by the folks that make those mahogany wood models. Both an Army Air Force and a U.S. Navy model, in 1:24 scale, are offered in my latest Historic Aviation catalog at $159 each. Too pricey for me!

I am a big fan of the Stearman too. Surprised it has not received more attention in the world of plastic. I think I have one put out by Williams Bros. in 1/72nd, but can only find the Pitcairn Autogiro(Just have to keep digging through the kits). I was further surprised to find that Squadron only showed one Stearman kit on their catalogue. Not a big fan of the Mahogany Models, because the they are a bit pricey and tend to be way stand off scale(If you stand way over there, yep looks like a Stearman).

The question was "In diecast" not "carved wood", besides who has that kind of money for one model? Heck it ain't even a bomber, nope no way to justify that expense.
