Thumbs up Re: What WWII planes would you like to see in diecast?

Just thought of a couple of more planes I would like to see made. The Avro Anson and the Lockheed Hudson would make an interesting addition to a collection. The Anson would be as sharp looking model with all those windows, which would lend itself to some great detail potential. Since Corgi is putting out the Bristol Blenheim this year, who knows maybe there is a chance for one of these two. Hudson would have the greater chance of the two in my opion, but would still like to see the Anson in diecast.

I completely agree with the Avro Anson -- even better if it is one of the wartime RCAF Naviagtion trainers that they used at the Rivers, Manitoba. I would also second the Hudson as well, but would be over the moon if they did the Mk I Blenheim!!!! In a similar, yet perhaps a bit more obscure vain, I would also like to see the de Havilland Dominie and the Percival Petrel. Those last two are very unlikely to see the light of day though -- pity.

The snub nose Mk 1 Blenheim would be a fantastic plane to see made in either bomber or fighter variants. The Finnish one equipped with skis would look real sharp.

Re: What WWII planes would you like to see in diecast?

Got the urge to ramble again, so how about Japanese twin engine fighters. With all the diecast aircraft out there, it is surprising no one has made any of the twin engine fighters used by Japan during WWII. Majority of the twin engine fighters they produced were fairly sharp looking aircraft and would really add to a diecast aircraft collection. The following are some of these twin engine aircraft I think would look good in diecast:

Kawanishi P1Y2-S Kyokko Frances
Kawasaki Ki.45 Toryu Nick (One of my favorites)
Nakajima J1N1-S Gekko Irving
Mitsubishi Ki. 46-III-KAI Dinah (Slick looking plane)

Personally, I don't have any interest in the Japanese aircraft, but a lot of guys do -- which gets me wondering: 'Why are the pickings so slim?'

That Dinah should have been the second aircraft done by anyone -- just following the Zero. What a classic.

With the exception of Altaya/IXO and Marushin, it seems like the rest of the diecast companies pretty much stop with the Zero when it come to Japanese aircraft. Real shame, because that leaves out a fairly large group on interesting looking aircraft.

Re: What WWII planes would you like to see in diecast?

Found another group of aircraft that get fairly little coverage when it come to diecast, Torpedo bombers have a fairly light coverage with regards to diecast aircraft. Marushin puts out the Kate, Hobby Master has their Avenger, and Corgie has Avenger & Swordfish. Not a big showing at all for this type of aircraft. I would not mind seeing Corgi put out either their He 111 or Ju 88 packing a torpedo, but it would be really neat if a company cranked out a Douglas Devastor, Nakajima B6N2 Jill, Albacore, Fairey Barracuda, or one of my favorites the Italian S.M. 79 with a pair of torpedoes. Another odd ball torpedo bomber aircraft would be the Fw 190F-16/R14. Some of these aircraft already have molds out there that would just require a little modification to make some of these unique looking aircraft.

Re: What WWII planes would you like to see in diecast?

Diecast is the future because many model builders, who love aircraft as much as anybody, don't have the time to build. So we'd rather display diecasts than boxes of unbuilt kits.

As such, yes, we need more coverage, in the three major scales of 72, 48, and 32.

And yes on the Jill, Devastator, and S.M. 79!!!

Re: What WWII planes would you like to see in diecast?

WWII fighters with fixed landing gear would be a cross section I would not mind seeing made. Aircraft l like the Claude, Nate, Fokker D.XXI, P-26, PZL 11C and the Hawk 75 are few that started off the war with landing gear fixed in the down position. Of course there are a few single engine bombers along this line that would look good too, Ki 30 Ann and the PZL P.23 as a couple of examples.

Re: What WWII planes would you like to see in diecast?

Since Corgi put out the Gloster Gladiator there is only one thing missing (Ok, still whole bunch missing) and that is a Fiat CR. 42 to sit next to it. With a nice variety of paint schemes associated with this aircraft, it is a shame no one has put out a model of this aircraft. It would be nice to see some of the WWII biplane fighters and bombers put out in diecast. Planes like the Polikarpov I-15, I-153 and the Henschel Hs 123 would make some nice diecast models.
