[quote=jim;35353]Hi , You prompted me to look through my collection and see what I have that is similar. I have the original film of the Memphis Belle but I must have missed the one you speak of.

You should have the 60th Anniversary of the Memphis Belle DVD by Aircraft Films. The DVD contents is packed with loads of footage including the "re-mastered" Bond Selling US Tour at home.
Of course, the Memphis Belle film itself have been improved in it's quality as well.

That looks really cool. I have never seen that on sale over here. And its on DVD. I think in this respect we are quite lucky, for a minority interest we are well served with plenty of films about the old Warbirds.

The Big Lift
Task Force
Angels 1-5
Through the Sound Barrier
Flat Top
633 Squadron
Flying Leathernecks
Battle for the Falklands Documentary
The Sea Shall Not Have Them

I managed to purchase a DVD copy of Flying Leathernecks recently for $2 (new) - just haven't yet had the courage to watch it ...

5, "The Best Years Of Our Lives" (1946) starring - Dana Andrews - Frederick March - Myrna Loy- Harold Russell

Probably, the best film here . . . I CANNOT rate this film highly enough (my dad loves this so much, he nicked my copy !!!!).

I most certainly agree -- highly recommended. Absolutely first-rate -- war movie or not. I remember watching this as a kid and the only thing that interested me was the scenes in the B-17.

Re: Rare WWII aviation movies

I've always liked "The War Lover" with Steve McQueen as a hard-nosed B-17 pilot. Some great footage of a Fort buzzing the field.

Re: Rare WWII aviation movies

Just curious if anyone has ever come accross Air War Over Finland 1939-1945? It has to be one of the best war time documentaties I have ever seen. The film quality is excellent an not gritty like some others I have seen. Throughout the film you seem some really rare planes in flight. Some of the ones I remember off hand are Brewster Buffalo, Fokker D. XXI, Fiat G 50, MS 406, Blenheim 1, Hawker Hurricanes, Hawk 75A, Me 109G-6 and quite a few odd support aircraft ( Think there was some footage of a DC-2). In general, just some fun to watch some of the less seen warbirds.
