Where do you buy/spend?

I was reviewing my die cast collection and I thought it might be interesting to determine how much I’d spent with various retailers over the years. I really got serious about die cast aircraft in 1995, so this financial breakdown covers twelve years of insanity.

Before I list the who and how much, let me say that ALL of the sellers listed below did and do great work.
>>
In 1:72 the list, by amount spent, is as follows:
The Flying Mule $1525.27
Aikens 1208.74
Wings & Wheel 309.38
Bad Cats 242.70
Tower 155.21
On Mark 47.94
Target 36.92
Spirit of ’76 34.70
Tuesday Morning 30.98
Burbank 30.00>>
>>
Sub-total $3621.84 (51.14%)
>>
In 1:48 the list, by amount is as follows:
Aikens $1778.05
>>
Sub-total $1778.05 (25.11%)
>>
>>
In 1:100 the list by amount is as follows:
Aikens $1594.00
Scranton Hobby Shop 63.00
E-toys on line (?) 24.95>>
>>
Sub-total $1681.95 (23.75%)
>>
Total $7081.84
>>
Over twelve years the cost is $590.15/ann., not exactly chump change, but I enjoy the hobby, so why the hell not. To repeat what I said at the start, All the dealers have been great and I think habit, service and prices really drive my choices.

Re: Where do you buy/spend?

I spend about $0,000.00 a year on my diecast planes.......Sorry i can't put the real total on here my wife would kill me if she saw it...
One thing i have learned from this hobby is to get them when they first come out because if you don't some of the planes do go up in value like the
AA32601 Avro Lancaster R5868/PO-S for Sugar 467 Squadron did and i still have not got her yet she cost too much now days and now i regret it.

Shawn, I suspect you're right, unfortunately.Yet, if I can believe the postings on this site, others seem to send more than $50.00/month, a lot more. And if you're buying or selling overseas the S&H alone probably exceeds that amount. My wife of 49+ years knows what I spend and her biggest concern is where do I display or store it. In fact, I'm close to overflowing and that will mean fewer additions in the future.

Re: Where do you buy/spend?

Lets see Hmmmn. Probably spend more than I should. but less than I would like. Like eBay, Pete's Collectibles (Folks real friendly there), and also like Aiken's Airplanes (Again folks real friendly there too).

Well considering I just bought the following ( no prices included here ):
Corgi Black Cat PBY (last month)
Corgi B-17 A Bit O Lace
Corgi B-25 Heavenly Body ( for the boy )
Corgi DH Mosquito US version
Gemini Hun Hunter
Hobby Master F6F Vraciu
Hobby Master AT-6 Luke Field
Dragon F4F Petrof Bay
Dragon F6F "00" 3 tone
All this sucked up my chow money for the month, which is no biggie, I need to shed some weight and I can always grab an MRE. But sure as God made little green apples I'll hear about it. She buys, builds and sells her doll houses. So it doesn't count against her. Or so she tells me.

She spends $350.00 per month on beads??? Oh, wait, that's Canadian, so it's really like twenty bucks or something, right?
