Re: Where do you buy/spend?

I don't think that it's wise to list amounts and certainly not by sellers in an online forum. I remember when I first got into this hobby, buying just about everything that Corgi and, shortly after, Dragon, put out. In fact, I frequently bought more multiples so I could repaint the "extras" in different paint schemes. Then, I finally realized that a deluge of planes and many more manufacturers was on the way. So now I buy more selectively, waiting for the best version of planes and AFV's I desire, because, in time, these seem to come. In other words, while I'm still a big buyer of diecast, I now spend 30-40% less per year on my hobby.

Yes, I sort of have to agree. I don't know why you think it isn't wise to divulge spending amounts (I'm not convinced many wives visit here), but given how some of the quality control in research, manufacturing, etc, is becoming a bit hit-n-miss with some makers, I think anyone who is building a collection with a purpose may be slowing down a bit. I know my spending has slowed a lot, largely because the models I was waiting for have turned out to be dogs, and because of it, submarined my plans for expansion. Oh, well, I just shift 'collection-direction', I guess, and continue onward!

I don't like to see dollar amounts by seller because some members may interpret them as endorsements( or lack of same) by the buyer when this isn't necessarily the case. Any number of factors ---availability of certain lines, price, habit, etc--- may cause one to buy heavily from one seller and not the next. Since these aren't spelled out, such listings may mislead some people. It's no big deal. Just my opinion.

Re: Where do you buy/spend?

Dollar amounts spent with a vendor do not necessarily mean very much, especially in as short a time as only one year. The purchase of a single FOV 1:16 scale Tiger or King Tiger could throw the whole thing off!

Perhaps more interesting would be a posting of vendors from whom a person has bought items in each of the last five or more years.
