Flower Arranging for Men

It seems that the thread " Where, Oh Where..." has now been closed. This makes a total of two threads which seemed to evoke a strong response from the folks out there in cyberspace.

I feel that it is time to shift from issues which have any meaning to ones without any controversy at all.

When was the last time you gave any thought to floral decoration in your home? How many of you make an attempt to carefully arrange each flower so as to complement the others within a grouping?

I feel that a carefully managed floral policy can enhance and uplift your environment so that thoughts of nasty issues which hit too near the bone are wafted away on the gossamer of the exotic scents which flowers can contribute to one's surroundings.

Of course the warming of the climate may contribute to our well-being by encouraging the more exotic specimins to grow and flourish in areas where traditionaly the climate was too cold. I welcome this opportunity to experience the advantages which these more exciting types of plants offer.

floribunda!

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

That wasn't arranged, pardon the pun, to insert another global warming dig was it? Maybe to get the argument going again?

Let it go...

The moderators and I are tired of having to deal with the threads that are controversial for the sake of being controversial. Though this is the "off topic" forum, it's on a model collecting website. So, lets keep it light hearted and leave the politics and fad science on the websites that cater to those topics. If I've received enough complaints to shut downthe first two threads do you really think that a third is going to be any different?

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Thank you for the prompt response. This is what I wanted to hear. You have to appreciate that when you closed the topic down, you say it was in response to several ' complaints' from members, although I was not made aware of that.

This is the first time that anyone has intimated to me that members were complaining about anything. What am I supposed to do if no-one tells me that there is a censorial policy in an area where it is made quite clear that this area is supposed to discuss anything unrelated to diecast.

I would suggest that this matter would have been sorted out quite amicably had there been a degree of communication about the concerns raised by members. In fact, since these concerns are still privvy only to youself, I find it difficult to respond to any specific complaint except in terms of mystification.

I would further suggest that in the spirit of enlightened democratic progression, if a complaint is made agaist a member's stand on any issue, or indeed the raising of the issue alone, some private communication may be in order to reach an amicable solution.

I recognise that there has to be some form of editorial policy with regard to what is included and what is not, and that as an administrator of the site you have a responsibility to the members as well as the public, but I beg you to recognise that while members may have taken exception to some of my remarks, it was entirely within their remit to come back on any matter on which I commented. I also ask you to consider the many reponses which were positive and supportive in nature, and which opened up a debate, although often quite light-hearted, about an issue which many feel concern.

In conclusion, I would reitterate the suggestions that I have made about complaints. From my viewpoint I was expressing concerns which I feel are valid. The fact that someone 'complained' perhaps intimates that someone felt aggrieved about these matters in a manner which was not made aware to me. This is too bad, because I cannot answer them, I can only answer for me.

I have a great deal of fun contributing to this forum, and if you look at the postings which I have made on diecast and all the issues related to the hobby I hope that you will appreciate that my concerns about the planet contributed only a small amount of my efforts to make the forum fun.

Good luck to all of you, and happy collecting,

MoMo

Sounds like we have a bit of

Momo you have 100% support in your stance form me. Frankly if someone is so aggrieved by a thread as to run and complain to the management, then why are the reading same thread in the first place.
This is the pub. Pub's are designed for talking about any old. Some stuff you'll agree with other stuff you will not. The only way debates are going to progress in today's corporate controlled media world is though individual communication, and taking that though some sort of thought process to come up with an individual conclusion.

Back on topic - Today - when I passed the Roses in Safeway. I just had to get some for Mrs Timbo!

The complaints stemmed from the aggressive behavior between members, not the nature of anyones opinions. I am a very political person, but I fight the urge to get involved because this is not the place to hammer out the worlds problems.

The three things you don't talk about when drinking are; Religion, Politics, and the other guy's wife.

Lets use that rule here too. Everyone has strong feelings about these topics and your not going to convert anyone on such core issues. All that you end up doing is promoting strife amongst the membership.

For the record, and I as much as told MoMo. I didn't run to anyone. I simply stated my opinion. The matter is over and MoMo and I are on talking terms.

Admin, Please don't take this the wrong way, this was not a dig at you or the mod's, you are all doing a fabulous job. Just some people need to lighten up that all. Life can be stressful enough without taking everything said on here to seriously.
