Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Then of course there was the occasion when the store had to shut because the eletronic tills broke down. I asked the manager why he couldn't stay open and use the good old fashioned way and accept cash.
Ah we cannot do that sir because the till operators wouldn't know how much change to give out.

Jim is practicing his HOMER " Doh! " for when he reaches the States. He feels that he has to make a pigrimage to Springfield in order to worship at the feet of Marge. " That woman is a saint !" I heard him say when I was checking the membership, using my powers of telepathy. Yes, it's true, I can read all your minds ( with the exception of Skunky--he lives in a lead-lined cave in the Ozarks and, sadly, his brain cannot be penetrated by my powerful, telepathic, brain-scanner...............also, you have to have a brain )

The ones which you saw in Tesco's were the managers, Timbo !

The bank saga continues :

They are trying to deliver a card to me. They used to just send it by post. I called the " Secure Delivery Guys " and spent 10 minutes waiting in a queue, then 5 minutes talking to a computer, which took all my details. Then, when the point came when I needed to talk to a human, the system failed because, get this, there ain't no humans available ! In fact, humans have been factored out of the system.

A swift call to the bank. " I need to have the card returned to the bank branch where I'll pick it up ( providing all the requisite Passport, etc. I.D. they want ! ). No, I can't arrange to have it delivered to my home because the robot said that they will deliver between 9am and 5 pm, but they could not give me an exact time. No, I can't have it delivered to my place of work because I cannot leave my young charges, it's against regulations. And, besides, your delivery man cannot enter the building because it is a secure area.

" What'r'ya'gonna'do'bout'it, Fiona ? "

" It's all for your own security, Sir ! "

" But not my convenience, huh? "

" We're trying our best. "

" Why don't you just get it back and send it to my branch where I can pick it up ? "

" Oh, we can't do that. Once the delivery service have it, they have to deliver it. "

" Oh, but, Fiona, they can't deliver it because I won't be in. "

" But when will you be in, and when can they deliver it ? "

" I could be in, Fiona, but I can't tell them when because the bloody robot I was speaking to will only arrange a date for delivery, not a time ! "

" Ohhhhhhh. I'll send a message to your branch and see what I can do. "

" God bless you, Fiona. "

" Why ? "

" You're not a call centre in India ! "

" Glad to be of service, Sir "

" Amen to that "

Let's see what happens................

Talking Re: Flower Arranging for Men

I was just reading the above post, after ignoring it for so long. I then got to thinking that my bank had introduced small, but steady, charges on to my accounts, despite the fact that I have been in credit for the past 37 years.

In the U.K. banks can do this. They are a law unto themselves.

It's just like the Bank of Toytown : I give the bank all my money. They lock it up. They have it for a month. They lend it out. They charge people for using it. They charge me for lending it to them.

What a bunch of bankers !

and another thing, ....is there anyone out there who is a registered Democrat, and who is willing to endorse Hillary Clinton ?

I take it that most of you are unreconstructed Republicans.
