Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Hey Folgore,

My long-time friend, Mary-Anne, was an Army Brat whose dad was stationed in Hawaii in the 50s and 60s. I used to be so shocked when she told me how she hated the endless fields of pineapples. To me, it sounded like paradise!

I guess that things must have have changed there since M.A. was lived in Hawaii, and that it is a paradise for tourists now!

Have you been before? Do you plan to visit the Pearl Harbour Memorial? Do you intend to drink many exotic and lethal tropical cocktails?

Watch out for those hurricanes, and have a great time!

Momo

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Having grown up on the East Coast in Baltimore, and then spent several years in Delaware, I don't mind the sunny 70 degree days in January when I get to barbeque. So, was the winter a bust, yeah, but I ain't complaining. (Maybe after I've been out here another 8 years I'll miss winter, but not yet.)

Today we are scheduled to hit 100 again. I'll try and send some extra sunshine your way MoMo.

Anything for a weird life.

...and as luck would have it, those and coconuts would be her steady diet for all those years she spent on the island with Gilligan "and the rest"

MoMo, I will take your advice and have a great time. I've been to Oahu before and visited Pearl Harbor, the Arizona Memorial, the Missouri and Bowfin, and Ford Island, which still boasts the control tower standing on Dec. 7, 1941. Alas, when I was there last year the Pacific Aviation Museum had not yet opened. If you ever have the chance, a visit to Oahu is definitely worthwhile -- for the history and for the beaches! I'm sure our erstwhile island friend Skysurfer can speak more authoritatively to that. Here's a photo of the tower I grabbed from the Net:

This time my family and I are visiting Kauai where, yes, I will drink many exotic and lethal tropical cocktails as I do my best beached whale impression... Hopefully the only Hurricanes will be in my glass, with premium spirits!

Nrrrm! Whoosh! Rat-tat-tat!
--sounds of a happy diecast collector

All that sounds wonderful Folgore. Have fun!

Although I did see some reruns of " Gilligan's Island " when in the States, that series never made it to the crystal bucket on this side of the pond. Pity, because it looked like great teenage fare for the 60s! Wsa it a favourite show, Skunky?

Do you remember the film ,The honourable Criton or was it Chriton.
An upper class mickey take of a bunch of wealthy Aristos shipwrecked on a desert island?

God Bless America.

AAARRGGHHHHHHHHHHH !!!!

That means that there was yet another show which the BBC or Scottish Television dropped in order to show some boring crap in Gaelic which entertained two old ladies on Sky!

The Hon. Chrichton was played by " Bader ", himself : Kenneth More! It was a good role-reversal flic, in which the butler is the only person with practical skills on the desert island where a rich plutocrat and his guests and family are shipwrecked. It was a very funny idea ( worthy of J.B. Shaw ) but as usual, copped out of the serious side of the question.

The British Class System had a strong grip!!!

TRIVIA : The android servant in " Red Dwarf " was named after the character!

...absolutely. It was educational TV. The show which sparked the endless "Ginger or Mary Anne?" debate (though jim was of course, hot for Mrs. Howell).....No noodity, however.

Yes,

teen confusion! Which one to choose?? What to say. How to be cool.

If I'd only known then what I know now!

It's great to have 50/50 hindsight, even if I am short-sighted!
