Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Personally, I think there are MORE than enough online outlets for talking about the hot buttons in question. This forum is where I come to talk diecast--and anything tangentally related to same--with fellow "addicts," and there is no other place like it online (or in the "real world"). I'm leary of the inclusion of a forum outlet for these hotbutton issues should it lead to our eventually demise -- as happened already once (thought perhaps a bigger and better home is arising from the ashes).

That said I understand that I can choose to ignore or participate in the various pub topics, but I just don't see the point, here, of a thread that's made just to incite a conflagration -- at least one that has nothing to do with the hobby, that is.

That doesn't mean I don't care about the bigger issues, it's just that one of the reasons I come here to discuss "who makes the best P-51D" is for a bit of escapism, I suppose, from the larger issues.

Just my $.02.

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Sorry, I don't mean to offend, but realistically, "mature/ tolerant/ respectful" isn't going to be found in threads regarding the 3 named topics, just because everyone has an opinion and some feel strongly about it enough to take it personally..

I think I've said my fill on this and Cardinal, I'm sorry, I consider you a good friend, and I apologize if my previous statement offended you..

For the record Harry, rest assured, NO offence was taken - mine was merely a feeble attempt at humour given the underlying truth of your words . One can but hope though that the noble priciples that we mentioned do still have some traction in the 'real' world as well ...

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Now, this is supposed to be a peaceful thread about uplifting stuff like nature and beauty. Stop treading on each other's toes as if it were not PC to mention........., or ......, or even......!

I was out wandering about today when it was sunny and warm and could not help but notice all the Spring Flowers which had come out over the last few days. Daffodils are blooming all over the garden at the back. Crocuses are appearing in batallions while some potted tulips are up too! I felt quite poetic as I wandered aimlessly about Kelvingrove Park admiring the bounties of nature as I wound my way towards the town centre.

In fact, if someone else had not beat me to it, I would have written that " I wandered lonely as a cloud", but that would have been waxing too lyrical.

" What a switch! " I exlaimed to myself as I reflected on the state the weather was in this time, last year. Last year we had lots of snow and sleet in March, and the temperature was freezing too! Thank goodness we don't have weather like that this year.

Later, when I reached Downtown, it started to rain and I got soaked. Still, Spring must be here. The frogs are spawning, butterflies are everywhere and the chiffchaffs are here six weeks early. It says so in the " Times " , so it must be true.

Enjoy the lovely weather while it's here.

The sap is rising,

MoMo

Ah Momo..I was following you until the part about the "chiffchaffs." For those of us not in bonnie Scotland, could you elaborate on what a chiffchaff is? It isn't some horrible medical condition from excessive wearin' o' the kilts is it?

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Ok, thanks for the nature lesson Momo. I thought we might need to send you a case of ointment to clear up your case of chiffchaff (which, btw, is somewhat similar to the Yellow-Rumped Warbler we have here in California).

Take it awaaaaay Skunkster!

Yellow-rumped Warbler SKUNK

For those of you who have never seen a Yellow-Rumped Warbler or a Skunk, here are some pictures to help you identify each animal. The skunk is the one on the right having his dinner. He seems to be enjoying his picnic, although the dog of the house might have something to say about what he wants to have for a snack!

The Yellow-Rumped Warbler seems to be looking for a friend. Don't you think that they'd make a nice couple?

Thus endeth today's ( nature ) lesson.

Very PC MoMo

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

I once knew I guy we called "The Red-Rumped Warbler". How he came by that moniker is quite an interesting tale, however I feel I best not contaminate the idyllic, dreamy aura of this thread with the tawdry details...

(MoMo, howz about leaving me a nice filet mignon next time, ya cheapskate)

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

No steak for you, Skunky. It would just make you into a raving carnivore!

No. For arrival.....a Scottish breakfast :

fried bacon, fried black pudding ( bood sausage..like what the Spartans ate ), fried mushrooms, fried potato scones, fried eggs, fried Lorne Sausage ( I bet Timbo's mouth is watering ), fried haggis, fried baked beans and a very strong cup of Morrison's English Breakfast Tea ( made with pure Scottish water from Loch Katryne )

For Dinner : the prince of puddings.......HAGGIS ! ( with mashed potatoes mixed with butter and whiskey and turnip and cream )

Then : lots of this to wash it down. Malt Whisky....the older, the better!

After a day of this, Skunky, you'll never eat steak again!

Tremendously PC MoMo
