Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Since these retro marionette shows were brought up I did a Google search to see what could be purchased should someone wish to relive their childhood (obviously something we wouildn't consider doing with our serious die cast collecting). Sure enough, you can purchase die cast and mahogany display models of almost all the shows mentioned. They don't look to bad either! Some are even autographed by the Andersons too.

In an earlier post on this subject, I mentioned having the Fireball XL5 plastic toy of the rocket. I found a picture of one on a fan web site which I have included here. The Fireball Junior (front capsule) detached and its canopy would open to access the crew figures. The sides opened (yellow doors) to reveal rockets that would shoot (no kid will ever again enjoy the toys we did - they would shoot their eyes out). It came will a pack of decals to make it look like the one on TV (the one in the pic is missing most of its decals). Very cool toy.

Those were the days! I wonder how we all managed to reach adulthood since we had all manner of toys to kill, main and dismember us (not to mention the old school parenting we experienced)? Yet, through it all we managed to survive - relatively intact anyway.

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Rather phallic looking in a way, no?...What were they really trying to subliminally plant in our tiny little minds back then??...
(Whatever it was, I think it worked...)

WIth you, I have no doubt my friend...

There's new die cast available of most of the Gerry Anderson classics, Product Enterprise is the company responsible. We've had a couple of threads featuring their product before, one predominantly about Space:1999, and one that mentions the product. They were over in the geek, er ah, Sci-Fi section, so some of you may have missed it.

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Thanks Canuklehead,

I found this gear pic of Supercar :

I'm trying to remember. Wasn't the most interesting character on this show a monkey, or am I getting mixed up? It was a long time ago!

NO-ONE HAS COME UP WITH THE NAMES OF THE FIVE ANGEL PILOTS YET. I'LL LEAVE IT OPEN FOR A WHILE, THEN I'LL REVEAL ALL!
