Yea, Robin Hood versus the Lakota.

I know what you mean, Starman. I still think of old Errol as Robin Hood and Kevin Kaustner as someone who could shoot arrows in movie about Robin Hood. When Kevin revived the tale, he lost the plot and the myth. Errol's movie established it for all time.

However, Raoul Walsh's " They Died With Their Boots On" perpetuates the myths of the 19th Century Penny Dreadful versions of what happened. Hence the movie's enduring appeal to boys of all ages.

You know on a nice day i will go the the park where Errol flimed the Robin Hood movie...There are signs in the part that will tell you a little what went on in this area of the movie ..kinda cool.

One of the park's longest-lasting claims to fame is that the original Hollywood movie, Adventures of Robin Hood, starring Errol Flynn and company, was filmed there among the majestic oaks and sycamores in 1937. It's easy to see why: This urban forest is unmatched. The park's theatrical tradition continues every summer with the annual late-summer Shakespeare in the Park productions in Cedar Grove.

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Next time you're there, Starman, watch out for men in tights! ( I hope it ain't the one where they nabbed Whamboy! )

For those of you who live the myth, there is only a small part of Sherwood Forest left near Nottingham. They were going to build a Robin Hood theme park there at one time, but the recession of the 80s killed it off. Too bad.

You used to be able to get VHS tapes of the " Adventures of Robin Hood" TV series from the 50s, but I don't know if they'll bother to release them on DVD. I did watch a few of the early episodes and they were pure magic....nostalgia time!

Thats the one with Richard Greene in the lead role. BTW Robin Hood is buried only one mile from where I live. Well thats whats claimed and I have seen the gravestone.

another BTW, ADMIN, I have just finished watching a programme about potential Tornados in Texas. A really scary scenario.

If all that is true I hope you have built a Tornado proof room in your house. They talked of a possible F5 or F6 force hitting Dallas sometime!!!

It seems there is a plethora of " it could happen programmes" on TV at the moment, it also seems Yellow stone park is ready to blow, a major earthquake is due in the Med. Oh and some chap claims Vesuvius is ready to blow also .

Based on all this doom and gloom I intend to make merry and enjoy life while I can, so maybe I should take the brakes off my diecasting collecting and go for broke.

God Bless America.

Re: Flower Arranging for Men

Go for it, Jim!

We're all doomed, according to TV pundits, so you may as well enjoy all the diecast which you can carry!

According to legend, Robin drew his bow for the last time as he was also drawing his last breath and asked to be buried where the arrow fell!

This means that, in theory, he could have been even nearer to your house when he croaked. Kind'a makes you shiver, don't it?

I used to watch Richard Greene in " The Adventures of Robin Hood" every thursday at 5.30, just before the news bored us kids to death. It was a great show for kids. It was literate, well acted and was based on good, moral principals. More than this, it was entertaining. It had wit and verve and sex ( Maid Marion ), even though Marion was a kind of Snow White figure who looked after all the Merry Men like a mother.

Too unsophisticated for kids today.

Lost in Space!!! Yes I remember that one Starman. It was on prime time TV over here. Dr Smith always made me chuckle. I have to admit I love Science Fiction.

When the original series of Startrek came out I was glued to the screen every thursday night. (see, I can even remember the day it was on). The new version of Startrek is Ok but I think it has drifted away from the original idea of exploration.

Is this an age related thing or is it true that they just dont make much good TV these days?

God Bless America.
