Re: 300

Once more into the breech....
I don't care what the Iranian leader thinks. What I do appreciate about this movie is the interest sparked in my son. Every show on the History Channel that comes on about the 300 gets his attention. So again, if this movie however inaccurate sparked his desire at 7 to learn more about it. I say more power to the writer/producer. Heck I really didn't know much about the battle until now, so his desire to know more really is a proud father moment.

Re: 300

Time for the 300 Spartans to go in again! Give us our boys back, Amajab! I don't want to start a ' flame war ', but these Iranians have gone too far! ( IMHO )

Re: 300

... but the giant humans (?), elephants, etc... and "predator" look-alike ninjas/immortals are definitely a case of " more is not always better." Why did they have to make Xerxes 10 ft tall (literally)?

FVD, you saw the wrong movie. Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles was in auditorium 2; 300 was down the hall in auditorium 5!

Took my son to see TMNT this weekend and I was pleasantly surprised, btw.

I hate to burst your bubble, but....
I train both US and International ( Greek ) Lts., and have trained with many Greek enlisted soldiers at the ILRRPs school in Germany. Lets just say, Spartans they are not. In the modern would the conflict would be a draw at best.

Not that the Forum Brass needs me to defend them, but...

I have to say that the admins/mods of this forum are very laid back. I belong to a couple of forums where the admins/mods are strung so tight that they will ban members for sneezing the wrong way. I appreciate their leniency.

Re: 300

If we are talking about the Greek people I shall have my say,

I have travelled around Greece and its many islands. I go back there as often as I can. The general rule is that where Greek is spoken then you can be sure of a great time.
In my experience the Greeks are open honest friendly and lots of fun. Family always comes first and they can be loud and boisterous to say the least.
They are quick to anger but equally quick to make up and be friends. they are a generous proud giving people and will always step in and help some one in difficulty.
Over the last 30 years or so Greece has become a second home to me and would say to everyone go there if you can ,you will be welcomed and made to feel special.

God Bless America.

Re: 300

jim's quote about the Spartans reminded me of an excellent war movie "Go Tell The Spartans" starring Burt Lancaster in 1978 that was about the U.S. advisors in Viet Nam before the U.S. got fully embroiled in that debacle.
