Re: Where, Oh Where, Has My Little Dog Gone?

Be aware folks that this is The Pub where off-topic discussions are the norm.

If MoMo wants to discuss global warming he's well within his rights to do so as you are in turn well within your rights to ignore the thread/topic.

Personal attacks on each other will not be tolerated and I would strongly suggest that the tone of any debate here or anywhere else on this forum is kept civil. Personal slights, innuendo or attacks on fellow forum members for whatever reason detract from the general goodwill and tolerance that characterises this forum and its members.

Re: Where, Oh Where, Has My Little Dog Gone?

Self-appointed or not, I feel that some debate on the issues which concern us is a healthy and vital part of the process which we call Democracy. God knows, we have little enough left of it! If the topic has gone on enough for you Shawn. Excercise your democratic right to butt out, and let others have their democratic right to debate.

Talking about democracy, I have now discovered why " Dogs are just stupid...." has disappeared. Admistration said that it had gone on too long, and he was terminating it. Now that it has been closed, there is no way that one can reply within the thread.

If anyone had asked me about the thread, I'd have said that probably it had gone on for too long and that other topics should be raised in other threads. If anyone had asked me, I'd have said, " Close it down, but please be cognisent that there seems to be a need for a section within the Pub where weary diecast collectors can let off a bit of steam."

No one asked me.

The majority rules in Democracies. And I believe most of the members want to see some limitations put on where the off topic discussions are placed which is why I started the random rant thread. This is NOT a political forum, IT IS a model aircraft and armor forum. I'm sure we would get more new members signing up rather than lurking if there was more talk on models and less on etc.

Refer to my post (#41) again in case there is any misunderstanding or lack of understanding ...

"The sad truth is that the only people who will learn lessons from all the craziness is the Defence Departments and The Army. They will be learning a better way to sell the next conflict.

People who pay their wages better think about what they want the army to do in their name next time.

If all you want from your army is to show the rest of the world how to give a fettered and cowering prisoner a good kicking, do nothing. But don't be surprised when some Iranian parvenue sticks two fingers up at the west and says leave us alone or we'll detonate a nuclear weapon in downtown London, or L.A. or on your pals. They are only doing what the army did in your name to Iraq, for no reason whatsoever!" - MoMo

As a member of the Armed Forces I take this as a personal attack, blanket statement or not. Noone I know wanted to or wants to spend months away from thier loved ones, just to "give a fettered and cowering prisoner a good kicking". And any soldier who has had to step up and go to war, does not look forward to doing it again. We didn't sell this war to anyone!! And anything the Coalition Forces have done illegally have and will be dealt with. But apparently, not to the satisfaction of the peoples court. And last I checked, we've yet to detonate a Nuke in Iraq or Afghanistan.

"And another thing,

Don't think that I have given up on all those 4X4 drivers who are polluting the air and the streets and inflicting untold harm on all our children by giving them all sorts of respritory ailments.

They are the bane of everyone's life and the sooner they're all gone, the better!" -MoMo

I also own a 4x4, but I guess this doesn't count as I'm not mentioned by name. But I'm not to take offense right?
I missed the memo that said we cannot disagree, but I believe it is my right to do so. And if we disagree, our only course of action is to ignore it? Where is the discussion in that? These are just a few questions and observations I have. I have no ill will for any member on this forum, I do however disagree with some of the above comments.
As Aircrafty said, this is not a political forum. It is a diecast aircraft and armor forum. And one would think the "pub" chat would be about that.
