I'm just curious if anything in MoMo's world is good? Global warming, 4x4 vehicles, imbedded reporters, out of control military action.... What I wonder even makes him wake up in the morning? "The Sky is Falling" lifestyle has to be a drag.
- Could it be, is it just possible that science is wrong on the global warming? Afterall, we're suppose to be freezing by now, based on previous science.
- Was there ever an engine invented that could meet the demands of man and labor? Or are we better served by using animals again despite the SPCA?
- Was there ever a war fought on honest intelligence? Or do you wait to see it at your doorstep first hand before recognizing a threat?
- Any news group worthy of our time? Or just those spouting gloom and doom?

And while this is a pub forum, this topic has gone on long enough. Surely there are websites, burning fossil fuel that deal with these wonderful issues. I dare say most come here to discuss their hobby, so they can get away from politics and all the BS surrounding it. But see, we can't even enjoy that. The self appointed have to butt into every fabric of our life. We all might be closet hawks collecting war toys to lead the next great plague upon the earth.

Self-appointed or not, I feel that some debate on the issues which concern us is a healthy and vital part of the process which we call Democracy. God knows, we have little enough left of it! If the topic has gone on enough for you Shawn. Excercise your democratic right to butt out, and let others have their democratic right to debate.

Talking about democracy, I have now discovered why " Dogs are just stupid...." has disappeared. Admistration said that it had gone on too long, and he was terminating it. Now that it has been closed, there is no way that one can reply within the thread.

If anyone had asked me about the thread, I'd have said that probably it had gone on for too long and that other topics should be raised in other threads. If anyone had asked me, I'd have said, " Close it down, but please be cognisent that there seems to be a need for a section within the Pub where weary diecast collectors can let off a bit of steam."

Which is it? Has this gone on long enough as you say above, or can you just not let it go? Afterall, it was you who brought the subject up yet again. I do recognize that as long as you keep it going people will express themselves. However, I do believe everyone has put in there two cents. Is there anything else that needs to be said?? And perhaps this is why nothing ever gets fixed, its easier to complain over and over than actually do something. I'll bet those fossil fuel burners that provide this arena greatly appreciate your continued use of their services.

An interesting read, albeit fiction and not a work of academic scholarship, is State of Fear by Michael Crichton (author of Andromeda Straain, Jurassic Park, etc.)

No judgments from me, but the novel sets forth a lot a research on the issue of global warming and makes for a fun read, regardless of your view.

the issues raised by debating who burns what, where and why is much wider than the mere issue of the use and misuse of fossil fuels.

As collectors of planes and AFVs we collect diecasts of some of the biggest gas guzzlers on the planet. To collect these representations of our targeted area of collecting, we have to encourage the industry of China which builds one coal-fired power station a week. This policy is sponsored by a dictatorship which allows western companies to exploit the cheap labour of its citizens for very little return. It also discourages them from having any labour rights and ignores their health and safety issues.

When I buy a Dragon tank, I'm aware of these facts, but I am also aware that by buying the product I am contributing to the economy of an emerging nation. This is my palliative.

I can happilly be a hypocrite in this one small detail. It doesn't stop me from pointing out the obvious.

Thanks Old Crow. One of my favourite novels and movies is " The Andromeda Strain".

I'll get hold of " State of Fear " and read it.
