| Re: One scale and one scale only - what would you choose? (aircraft & armour) I voted for 1:72 but in fact prefer this only for airplane models. I see no reason to favor the same scale for AFVs, however, and prefer 1:48 to enjoy the same level of detail as my planes provide. | |||||||||||||

| My preference is 1/72 for both. That said, Cardinal does have a very good point regarding the 1/35 scale as well as 1/48. In the end I get what I like. Do I have a choice? No, not really. Can I walk away from the new HM Griffon Spit? No, its that simple. | |||||||||||||

| Re: One scale and one scale only - what would you choose? (aircraft & armour) 1/72 for aircraft(display more) but Elmer is doing a number on me to go 1/48 (I might let him convince me ). The Corgi 1/50 armour is superb IMHO and allows a large display area. I cannot understand why they ended them; I know FOV cut into them with better pricing etc. King Tiger, MK III & IV Panzers, 25 -pounder with limber, 88s, open backed Matador trucks and many more. lost opportunity I think. | |||||||||||||

| Re: One scale and one scale only - what would you choose? (aircraft & armour) Hee, hee, hee...I love 1:48 most, always have, and imagine I always will. It seems to me to be the perfect scale for model aircraft: big enough for detail and impressiveness, but small enough for display space. In diecast, 1:48 scale aircraft is... well... blooming right now, kind of coming into flower, if you will . There are some beauties out there, and I feel certain the best is yet to come.I like 1:32 next (I wish GMP would switch to 1:32, 1:35 is an odd scale for model aircraft), then 1:72. I have models at all three scales; they each have inherent strengths and weaknesses that one must accept when deciding to acquire any particular model. | |||||||||||||

| Re: One scale and one scale only - what would you choose? (aircraft & armour) 1/72 for me but only because of lack of space. BUT if I had the space then the bigger the better! | |||||||||||||

| I would have to say overall 1:72 as I can house a reasonably small but decent collection of RAF bombers and fighters. The wrench in the works is my 1:144 collection of Civil Airliners. They would be too big in 1:72. (Or WOULD they? Overall -- 1:72 -- no armour here either. | |||||||||||||

| Re: One scale and one scale only - what would you choose? (aircraft & armour) I am a 1:72 collector. I was surprised by how many more of you voted for 1:72 than the other scales. Since I started collecting 4 years ago I have seen a huge increase in types of 1:72 available. (my thoughts and opinions belong soley to me and are not for sale but maybe influenced by outside forces) | |||||||||||||

| Re: One scale and one scale only - what would you choose? (aircraft & armour) I would go with 1:48 -- there aren't as many options as with 1:72 but I like the size and detail you can get. I'd rather have one nice 1:48 mustang, than a squadron of 1:72s... But limit myself to one scale in reality.... ![]() | |||||||||||||
