Daytona 500

Any motorsports fan around here? Anyway, it's been years since I've watched and followed this event, and I must say I'm looking forward to seeing this one on Sunday, mainly. The driver that I'm really betting on might win the 500 is rookie Juan Pablo Montoya - an Indy 500 winner, Formula One driver and now driving for the Robert Yates team in NASCAR. This could turn out to be a very interesting race this Sunday.

Re: Daytona 500

I'm not a NASCAR fan but have watched Montoya in both CART and F1 and will probably watch or TIVO the race to see how he does. Montoya is a great driver and if he has figured out the car and he stays out of trouble he'll be a real contender.

Yeah, I hear ya about Montoya. He's a driver's Driver regardless of which race car type he drives. Was watching the Daytona Qualifying Race this noon and he lead some laps in the beginning before his engine quit on him. The dude's an ACE!

Admitted he is quite a bit older now but when he was in CART you could watch the in car camera and be amazed at his car control. His hands were so quick at correcting that from the outside the car looked stable but it was clear from the in car that he was driving it at the edge.

The other thing I like about Montoya in NASCAR is that he really seems to be enjoying it. He always has a big grin when he gets out of the car. He didn't have that in F1.

I hope he does well in the NASCAR league this year like the GREAT Jeff Gordon (another ACE driver l like) before him!

Re: Daytona 500

Speaking of Gordon the Speed Channel show from a few years ago where Gordon and Montoya switched cars at Indy was a hoot. Perhaps they will re-run it again.

Re: Daytona 500

I'll be watchin' Denny Hamlin in the #11, although I hope someone puts his teammate, Tony Stewart into the wall early. He's an arrogant, whining, fat-bummed scrote-head who always cries whenever somebody else does to him what he does to others. I also wish continued good luck to Jimmie Johnson this year.

Most of all I hope everyone stays safe (even that arrogant, whining, fat-bummed scrote-head who always cries whenever somebody else does to him what he does to others.....he entertains me)

Re: Daytona 500

I really don't follow NASCAR anymore since Dale Earnhardt passed but I'd obviously have to root for Dale Jr. Montoya should be good to watch I hope he does well. I just hope the back of the field is full of those stupid Toyotas
