I like everything about that painting but the Mavis ... it doesn't look right to me.

No, it wouldn't.
That's cause it's an ' Emily ' .

Re: How many of you also collect aviation art?

Guys,

Check out my signed copy of Flying Aces, signed by Stan Stokes.

It cost me the regular retail price ($25), I own many of Stan's prints and when I ordered the book via his website, it came with this surprise.

That's too cool, Ara! Stan Stokes is among my favorite artists as well. His work is awesomely life-like and perfect.

Re: How many of you also collect aviation art?

Thanks flyXwire,

Yes, it was very cool of Stan to do that. The drawing is nice and shows how steady his hand is, and how well he knows his aircraft.

I have all my Stokes work in storage, but what's your favorite print? I haven't seen any of his new work in 6 years... but in the 1990's I was all over his new releases.

Oooh, that's gonna be hard to pick from Stan's work. I guess my main favorites are the carrier landings with the F4U Corsairs and his Flying Tigers scenes....basically most Pacific Theatre Operations sceneries he's done.
