Good luck on the retrieval Gavin, that's a major bummer!

(now run out and get yourself a NAS drive for backups... )

I've got a few GBs of warbird pics I've been collecting, including a few of yours you've posted I believe -- if you want I can burn 'em on a DVD and send it to you, get that new collection jump-started

Re: I'm trying really hard to think happy thoughts!!!

Best wishes for information retreival Admin. "Spare the rod and spoil the ##### " I thought you were more of a Philips driver and mallet man Jim!!

Trained as a engineer then got all flowery and went into textile design then decided to be a Textile technician then onward and upwards from there.

I have been lucky in that I loved my job "mostly".

Its been fascinating being part of all those amazing changes in the industry over the years.
Some of the most sophisticated machines in the world can now be found in a weaving shed, unfortunately that meant using computors to control the machines as speeds are now so high that the mechanics of the machines could not keep pace.
I just love tinkering with machinary, always have.

Hey Ho there I go rambling on again.

Dont forget the first computor was invented by a Textile engineer called Mr Jacquard. (planenutsfrog should know about this guy because he is of course French).

God Bless America.

Bamboo shoots under the fingernails comes to mind.

Ok...sorry...that was not nice.

But you should be able to recover everything off the hard drive. I will bet even a high school "computer whiz" kid could who will probably be earning $300,000 a year in a few years could do it for only $50.00.

In any case, good luck.

Actually, we could just strap the yute to a chair and force him to listen to jim's disjointed ramblings for an hour or twelve.....

Yes, it just wouldn't be the same around here without him.

Let's be grateful for men like Jim. If it weren't for him, we really wouldn't have much to post about.
