| Item won on Ebay Is there anybody out there who may know what I can do about 2 Corgi Planes I won on Ebay, But never received? The person I won them through is over in the U.K.and is absolutley positive they shipped it to me and with the proper address. They have a 100% positive Feedback as a seller with about 160 transactions, So I believe they are telling the truth. The problem is they did not send it by registered mail so the Post Office said they cant track it without that bar code. So at this point I dont have my planes and I am out of my money. If anyone has any info on what I can do please let me know. Thanks | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Item won on Ebay How long has it been since they reported shipping it? I sent an IXO P-38 to Australia last year via Airmail, at least that is what I paid for, but somehow it went the surface route and showed up about 3 months later than expected. The buyer accused me of not shipping it Airmail to save a buck but I had the receipt to prove it. Sometimes things get stuck in customs, international shipping can be hit and miss when it comes to transit times. If its only been a few weeks it could still show up, especially if you genuinely believe that the items were sent. Your recourse is limited to how you paid, Paypal you have a chance if you file a dispute within the alloted period, otherwise forget it. | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Item won on Ebay Seems like I get things from the UK in about a week airmail and a month surface but it has been 6-7 weeks surface before. It may still show... | ||||||||||||||

| Re: Item won on Ebay My experience of the mail cannot be repeated here, however I have noted that it can take between one and eight weeks to receive a parcel from the US. Canada always takes forever I dont know why. I have had a parcel sent by the Mule arrive back with them after five weeks with a note saying not claimed????? I asked the post office about this and they said "sorry can't help we know nothing about it"! So I had double postage to pay on that one!!GGGGRRRRR!!!!

Iroquois - Sorry for ya, to hear what's happened. As the lads have said, Paypal is your best option in future. Reason I'm writing this post is to try & re-assure you that the Royal Mail WILL forward those ordinary parcels IF THEY'RE IN THE SYSTEM IN THE FIRST PLACE. May be slow, BUT if they are genuinely in the system they'll turn up. It's unlikely that any R.M. employee is gonna risk getting the sack over two toy a/c !!!! (amongst anything else they may be pilfering). Believe me - R.M. staff are constantly under surveillance & monitered IF theft is going on - (I saw a young-black guy I worked with at beginning, being frogmarched away to the local police station a few months later, after nicking diamonds transiting to & from London's jewellery heartland - & other similar, but far lesser offences). Royal Mail (parcels) DO take more priority in sending Premium-rate 24hr & 48hr items, as that's where the money lies & they have a fixed deadline to meet (& damaging compensation if they don't). 'Plain Jane' surface mail with no deadline, is last in line (peanuts revenue = peanuts service). I spent 17 years working for Royal Mail U.K. (10 on letters & 7 on Parcels), so I've pretty-much seen it from all angles. Did you at least ask the seller what ACTUAL date he posted your items & which branch used ??? There is a complaints service for R.M. but as you rightly said, no tracking code makes it the proverbial needle in a haystack. It's possible it could go missing Stateside, equally as much as over here....? Hope they turn up for ya.... better late, then never.

| Re: Item won on Ebay Ask the seller to send you a scanned copy of the postage receipt. If they can't/won't do that, ask for your money back. IF they refund your money and the package got send via surface mail and you eventually receive it, THEN you can always send them their money with a "maxima mia culpa" (As a frequent eBay seller, I ALWAYS keep the receipts.) | ||||||||||||||

I agree.. If the seller is reputable, he'll refund the money to you (I had to refund a buyer from the UK that said he never received my package and it just happened to be the one time I used letter post instead of parcel post).. That is one reason I insist on registered mail or at least something trackable when shipping overseas.. File a claim with Paypal if the seller refuses to help resolve the issue, but don't wait too long, or you'll lose your chance..

| Re: Item won on Ebay Silly question, but usually on Ebay sellers are pretty clear about how they ship. If you did not pay the much higher shipping cost of Registered and or you did not pay for insurance, you do not have much ground to stand on. Unless they were not clear about the shipping options, of course buying and selling from the USA to other Countries is not foolproof. I have shipped to the UK many times, Air Post under 4 lbs is very resonable and gets there 99% of the time, but if it does not and there is not insurance taken out, then there is not much you can do. EMS from here to the UK has tracking and insurance built in, but cost usually more than 2.5 times as much as Air Post. Now as far as PayPal goes, if you submit your complaint within 45 days you might get your money back from them and if the seller was honest and they did ship it , they will lose out 100% on the deal, but I bet you both end up with a bad comment on Ebay. | Re: Item won on Ebay I use ebay a lot to both buy and sell, but I do keep in mind the phrase "caveat emptor." I always pony up the extra dough for insurance, even though the odds are in favor of my receiving the package. I call it peace of mind. | ||||||||||||||
