Re: Little Known "Tank facts"

There were ca. 9 prototypes of the Maus, Super Heavy tank, by the end of WWII. There was going to be a special rail car to transport it. However, because no bridge would be strong enough to support it, it would be made to submerge for river crossings.

I seriously doubt they would have made it out of Germany because of rail and bridge restrictions. And the wading option..., I'd pass on that until extensive trails were done. That would make one heck of a fish tank if stuck. Of course there are those that will say it would've been the best thing since sliced bread, had the war gone on into 1946. The E-100 was a more promising design, yet still a huge waste of material.

Re: Little Known "Tank facts"

Definitely a waste of material. And, like you said, if this thing got stuck on the bottom of the river . . . . what is going to pull it out! The E series was much more plausible. Reading about the Maus does make me want one for my collection. I got the E-100 and will probably get Maus. Anyone recommend a certain Dragon Maus?
