Tank Movie..."The Beast" on INHD

Caught this movie today. Its one of those surprise 'gems' you'd never heard about. It stars Jason Patric and was made back in the late 1980's. Its about a Russian tank crew that's being tracked by Mujahadeen inside a mountain pass. This is a really good movie, with lots of internal conflict between the crew and their commander who is a sort of 'Captain Ahab' in a tank as well as on the other side with the band of Mujahadeen who seek to kill 'the Beast'. Very enjoyable and well-conceived, somewhat different than the usual Hollywood drivel. If you have INHD, I highly recommend you watch:

It's a terrific movie, and a pity I haven't yet seen it out on dvd.

Thanks for posting this. I recall seeing this movie about a million years ago and remember it fondly. At least now I know what it's called. (Hey, I live in Los Angeles where breakfast is considered nostagia. )

Re: Tank Movie..."The Beast" on INHD

The Beast is a good movie, but I don't think it is shown often at all. Last time I saw it listed on the cable guide was back in the early '90s, I think.

It also stars George Dzundza (sp?) as the tank commander (he's one of the cops from the old Law and Order series, plus numerous other movies and TV shows).

Those women were rough on a homeboy!

Or are you referring to "Tank" starring James Garner...?

"The Beast" is a really good movie.
