I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: You know you're hooked if...

You drive with the car moon roof open in the middle of winter so you can see/hear aircraft passing overhead.

You don't raise a fuss when the better half spends money on plant pots and seeds etc.

You keep telling yourself "no more" then put in an order at TFM for six more.

You spend hours trying to add just one more in an already over-stuffed display cabinet.

24. Your children complain that you have more "toys" than they do.

25. You plan business trips and family vacations around airshows and aviation museum visits

26. You actually schedule Dogfights episodes into your MS Outlook calendar

27. Your wallpaper/screensaver is an airplane and not of your kids

28. A mail order diecast plane with a defect can ruin your whole day

Man, I've got it bad.......

Re: You know you're hooked if...

...bringing home a new diecast purchase will ruin your chances for the weekly, weekend sexual encounter with your wife (who you still find pretty hot after 18 yrs of marriage) - but you bring home the diecast anyway.

...while watching evening TV, you bring out 4-5 diecast models (and their corresponding Osprey books), sitting them on the coffee table in front of you to play with during commercials and slow plot lines.

...you just dropped $200+ at Tuesday Morning, then say - "These were models I wouldn't have bought if they weren't at such great prices." AND after 2 years, they are still never removed from box; stored under your bed - because you don't have room to display them.

...you start looking at your kid's room, planning it out as your hobby/display area........when the kid whose room you are looking at, is only 11 years old.

...for an 8-10 day period - on your lunch hours/weekends/way home from work - you scour 8 different Tuesday Morning stores - numerous times - looking for a "Bit O' Lace" B-17 for $39.99. (Thankfully I found one, averting the clinical Depression that would have occurred from having wasted all that time/effort/gas - for nothing.)

...your fast food lunch item choices are made based on the fact that the change saved, (In your mind) can be divertered into your diecast budget. [If I get a soft taco for XX instead of the burrito for XX, then I will have saved 80 cents and can use that toward my next diecast purchase. Or, if I skip lunch altogether for 10 days, then I can pick up a new Corgi single engined fighter (based on 2007 prices).]

Yeehaw your the man!!! Once a year is OK by me. Leap year!!! Unfortunately my better half does not agree Anyway enough of that. Many thanks to all you chaps, I no longer feel alone and in need of help. Its good to know the diecast malady is widespread. its also good to know we can have this group therapy. Again many thanks for the support. Now if you chaps could just see your way to sending some money over, well that new ... correction ,those new models over at the mule are beckoning me. (its true, I can hear them calling ).

God Bless America.

Re: You know you're hooked if...

Good thinking Jetfan, Let them spend and not make a fuss means that they can hardly complain at your small ever so small diecast purchase. I usually say to Lorraine , come on dearest I am taking you out for dinner tonight, you have worked so hard its time you had a break. its important to time this outing just before the arrival of a diecast delivery. it works , "mostly".
