Re: Another reason to hate cats - as if you need one

In defense of my lovely cat Pandora with us 7 years now, we are all healthy as is our robust 2 month old son Mason. We asked all the doctors and pediatricians before, during, and after the pregnancy. They said have no fear. All is well love your cats, keep your home clean, and keep your animals vaccinated and safe indoors away from exposure to wild creatures.

This is so true, my wife and I raised three children, had cats throughout this time, never had any problems.

safe indoors away from exposure to wild creatures.

Does this mean i have to put my better half outdoors then, she can be pretty wild at times. Funny but this usually happens when diecast bills come in, just like today , I told her I have been led astray by you lot, ( come on remember the P40 and Fw190 threads) its all that Cardos fault. She was not impressed!!!
We have decided that I wont buy any more diecast for a while.

I love the use of the word "we" in this context ...

say what you will about cats, but I haven't had a chipmunk in the
garage (or attic) since I brought the cat home.

too right, another guy on the hanger has the same problem. He suffers from the royal "we" also.

Even if your cat is clean (which is likely because they are clean animals) it can still have been infected at some stage and passed the disease onto you and or a family member. You can't vacinate your cat against this disease and the prevalence of the organism is very high in mammals. So if your cat has been outside at any time in its life and had the opportunity to catch and eat mice or rats, or even eat uncooked meet at home, it is VERY likely it has caught the disease at some stage.

In some countries where the population has a higher than average fondness for cats or a preference for rare meats the infection rates in humans can very very high. For example more than 80% of the human population in France are positive for Toxoplasmosis.

Let's not get too carried away or paranoid folks - most of us have grown up surrounded by both cats 'n dogs with few ill effects other than having a compulsion (some may even say obsession) to buy and display die-cast armour and aircraft ...

Yeah. The virulent disease Displayus Diecastius is much more prevalent and catching around here. Cough . . . cough . . .
