College football - OSU vs. UF

Does Florida have a chance in this one, or is it over before the opening kickoff?

Any predictions on any of the other upcoming bowl games?

Opinions/perspectives???????????????????????

Re: College football - OSU vs. UF

I hope the Buckeyes open a can of W.A. on Florida. I'm not a real fan of OSU but I am tired of the BCS.

Does Ohio State and Michigan putting the smack down on their opponents finally get us a playoff system?

Note to the sports world: There is no such thing as a split national title.

Sorry about that, I blacked out for a moment. What happened?

Maybe we should start a whole new discussion on the BCS and a playoff system.

Hey, sorry about that. I didn't mean to hijack your thread. The very mention of this game hit a raw nerve.

Score:
OSU: 31
Florida: 17

It was over when:
Smith found Ginn for a 48yrd TD pass with 43 seconds left in the first half.

Summary:
Florida slugs it out for the first twenty-five minutes and then begins to fade. A lack of running game from Florida becomes huge as OSU dominates time of possession. With the OSU O-Line setting the tone early in the second quarter, one on one coverage is created for Ted Ginn jr. bringing about a 48yrd touchdown pass just before heading to the locker room. This is play will end up defining the rest of game as Florida never regains their spirit.

X-Factor:
Ohio State is able to pull out the big plays.

Notable Game Statistics:
0 turnovers in the game
4 TD & 0 INT Troy Smith (OSU)
136yrds rushing
Antonio Pittman (OSU)
168yrds total rushing (OSU) more than doubling the average yards allowed by Florida's D this year.
62yrds total rushing (FLA)

Game Ball:
OSU O-line

Honorable Mention:
Florida's Safety Reggie Nelson: Though it wouldn't be enough, he plays a great game trying to fill the gap between Ginn and Pittman shortly after the passing of his mother.

I just have a strong gut feeling about this game. I'll probably be logging on around 9:00PM on the 8th trying to delete this post.

Wow, Gavin, I guess I don't even need to read the sports section on 1/9/2007 now, do I?!?!

As for deleting this post after the game, please don't, it will make for an interesting comparison. I like your style!

No, no - not what I was implying. If it was, I would have been more overt about it . I was just joking about how much of an issue the BCS/playoff thing is.

I didn't see you as hijacking this thread at all. (Something I, myself have been guilty of on occasion.) BCS relates totally to the original post.

Oh, I went back and read the posts and realised that I had missed the point completely. After doing that I just assumed that's what you were talking about. It's ironic how I've written the rules and I'm supposed to oversee the moderation of the forum, and yet I find myself just as susceptible of breaking the rules as anyone else.

I DID NOT want to see an all Big Ten game or a refried regular season contest for a championship game, but I think that it's what should of happened. And even though I believe that UM is the real #2 team, is Michigan really supposed to get half of a crystal football if OSU and UM both spank their opponents. Of course, that's figurative speech.
The whole thing just erks me.

My BCS Picks

Rose Bowl
Michigan: 17 USC: 14
The battle for "the Deuce" ends up being a gritty throw down more entertaining than the NCG.

Sugar Bowl
LSU: 28 Notre Dame: 13
A sad day in domer land as Brady Quin is forced to leave the game due to injury. Tigers Roll.

Orange Bowl
Wake Forest:28 Louisville:27
Possibly least anticipated BCS match up, but one of the best games after it's all said and done.

Fiesta Bowl
Oklahoma:34 Boise State: 17
Commentators will tout Boise's undefeated record and expect them show up strong for this game, but instead everyone is left with there jaw hanging after OU runs over BSU like and Abrams tank over a VW Bug. Ouch! W.A.C. still stands for Weak A$$ Conference.
