On the Australian issues, consider that when the old lags which were kicked out of Britain for stealing a loaf or poaching a rabbit because they were hungry settled in Oz, they little realised that they were entering a thieves paradise.

Why? Because they then stole Australia from the aboriginal population. The aboriginal Australians did not ask the English, Scots, Welsh or Irish to speak in any of their dialects. Nor did they require the Brits to 'assimilate' by conforming to tribal law.

Indeed, they did not even request that the Brits worship nature as they did.

Instead, the aboriginals co-operated with the Brits by allowing themselves to be killed off as quickly as possible in order to make way for the nice white folks moving into the neighbourhood. They even dedicated the Island of Tasmania to the concept of being totally white by allowing all their bretheren to be killed. Result--no Tasmanians!

When Aussies opened their doors to anyone unfortunate enough not to be WASP or token WASP, they naturally assumed that the lucky chosen ones would bend over backwards to kiss the hand that welcomed them. This is not the way of the world!

I hold no truck for fundamentalism of any kind. 'Exclusive' religions which purport to be 'chosen' or have the 'answers' always seem to end up imposing their moral values on people who do not agree with them. They can't help it. They think that they are right and just want to save you.

This is the story of Australia. The good, christian people who were in charge of Aboriginal Affairs wished to save aboriginal children from the 'poverty' and 'heathenness' of their forefathers so they kidnapped thousands of them in the 40s and 50s and sent them to remote schools to learn the ways of the white men. Result--a dislocated society and much heartache and misery.

I think you get the picture.

Don't take it as an insult if I also mention that every Non-Native American is an immigrant. They emmigratated from the old world because they could not stand being force-fed all the balloney about how the King or the Czar or the Queen or the Emperor or the Bishop or the Kaiser was chosen by God to tell them what to do, where to worship, what to eat, what to wear, what job to do or what to educate their children with.

All of this puts english speakers at a great disadvantage and advantage, at the same time, when it comes to dealing with issues of assimilation.

The english speaking peoples stole a large chunk of the world from its original and rightful owners. In doing so, they were not doing anything radical or anything which had not been done before. They just did it in a more systematic, organised fashion.

History is written by the winners. The history of the english-speaking peoples is a great history of struggles, civil wars and martyrdom to establish freedoms which are really the envy of many peoples...but not all!

There are some peoples out there who point out the fundamental hypocracies in democracy and are hated for it. Sometimes it suits them to champion western democracy, sometimes ridicule it. For their own ends.

From 1945 onwards I believe that western democracies have made a poor job of promoting their values, belief-systems and political institutions. Lately, they seem to be on a mission to estrange the very peoples who once looked to the west as a beacon of hope.

The world is the same size that it was when living space first became an issue. Local conflicts in pre-history and organised warfare in more recent times all boil down to who it is who is going to get the biggest chunk of land.

If you want to keep your values, language and cultural heritage intact, control the world's population, demonstrate by example how to reach a decent standard of living, don't let your politicians be bought off the shelf and welcome what a new culture can add to the mix to make it better.

Also, control immigration so that people welcome the new and don't get pissed off by it. The crazies with Sharia mind sets are a very small minority who seek to glorify themselves by making you frightened of their, mostly self-imagined, power. They prey on the minds of the disaffected, ignorant and weak-willed. I agree, kick them out! But don't use them as an excuse for having a go at what seems alien and strange because it is imported.

As for the language, think how rich it is from all the cultures which have added to it.

Let's all have a peaceful and happy Christmas ( non-christians too! )
