Sadly Ed, because many of them love to ponce off our State Welfare/Benefit system...... as well as blag off of our (Free) National Health Service (having previously contributed zilch/nothing/zero towards it - parasitic 'like' - riding on the backs of others - how kind & thoughtful).

The (MANY) folks I've met who were alive & fought in W.W.II are DISGUSTED and BITTER that the overburdened N.H.S. shunts them to the 'back of the queue' when it comes to hip-replacements etc - & that these 'immagrants' (generally contributing zero) when the slightest thing goes 'out of place' - play the 'race-card' against us (political correctness).....witness the recent 'veil' conflicts.

They build (many) Mosques here......somehow (sarcastically) don't think WE can go 'there' & build churches or preach on street corners (without being used for bayonet practise or mob-lynched), yet WE (indiginous Brits) are expected to be tolerant to this non-parity.

The Aussies are well-sorted & sensible.

Our lot are to the cancer in their midst, & of there own doing.

I'm a bit like Mark 1 in that I get nervous when politicians start getting to 'churchy'. With due respect to religious supporters of all creeds it should be noted that Australia doesn't have a bible belt and to most Aussies, religious fanatics are just plain fanatics, no matter what religion they profess.

Now that we have covered Aussie religion I should say something about Aussie politics. We have two main political parties. The Liberal Party (now in power), is actually a conservative party, and the Labor Party which evolved from early trade unions. The difference between them is very small these days because they have both changed their policies over time to capture the vote of the silent majority.

Frankly the average Aussie is fed up with trying to please every noisy minority group that demands their piece of the pie. The simple fact is that like most democracies, 'Majority Rules' in Australia. It's not a perfect system, but so far, humans haven't found a better one. I guess the coverage of the race riots on a Syndey beach some time ago appeared on tv overseas, but I suspect the cause of the riots wasn't widely broadcast. Those riots came about after some religious zealots (Muslims I believe) abused some young Aussie women for sun bathing in bikinis on the beach. Can you think of anything more likely to upset young Aussie guys

Aussies are a free and easy kinda bunch. Just as we are. We don't ask much of the people who emigrate to our shores.

I think we're all being taken advantage of these days. I think the truth is being buried.

Ultimately, just as Winston Churchill once said, "We have not journeyed across the centuries, across the oceans, across the mountains, across the prairies, because we are made of sugar candy."

Our people had to kick a little ass to enjoy the freedoms and the lifestyle we live today which is indeed threatened. We may need to kick a little ass to protect it.

I agree but also see this thread as being a bit hypocritical. What do you think the Afghans, Iraqi people etc think about the US and others occuping and interferring with the running of their countries?

Are we talking about the United States here too??? We have the same problem here!!! We are two of a kind for sure! Try going to any country and do that! Alot of countries (the smarter ones it seems) wont let you immigrate there until you have a profession and money. Here is the opposite..."Come here and we will give you money and servies for FREE and here is some money to open your own business and by the way...you don't have to pay ANY taxes for the first 5 years since you are a new-comer here. Now enjoy your new citizenship". Screw that! You can NOT get away with paying no tax for even 1 day if you own your own busines...how fair is that???? And by the way...us Americans need to learn Spanish? (I have been told that many times). How about LEARN ENGLISH???? There are people here that have been living here for 30 years that still can't (and will not) learn English. You want to be come a US citizen but want the rest of us here in USA to accomodate and learn your language? We are stupid.
