Re: "Flyboys" DVD release

You are quite correct, DC...not ALL the Fokkers were red.

It wasn't all CGI. Here's one of the stars at Breighton in July last year.

I haven't seen the film yet but I was under the impression that this one was also in the film although from the "all red" comments I wonder?

By the way, DC, that appears to be a Junkers in front of the Fokker, possibly a CL.I. Would you be able to confirm, and would you know if it is original or a reproduction?

Re: "Flyboys" DVD release

The all red aircraft was true, but the lead bad guy flew that black one. Several flying full scale replicas were also built for the movie. I saw them at Oshkosh. I also saw the film there. They had a special presentation of it a month before it opened for what the director called "it's it's introduction to the aviation world."

There were two of them and I'm 99% certain that they are replica's unless any one knows better? The two gunners are definitely replicas but very realistic.

Re: "Flyboys" DVD release

Thanks, DC. Yep, I can tell from the new pics that it is a replica. Not to nitpick, but the engine is wrong, and, perhaps more glaring, the original was all metal.
