Re: Veterans Day

No lad I am no hero, the heroes didnt come home. Said to me by a Lancaster tail gunner who flew 38 missions over Germany.

God Bless America.

Re: Veterans Day

I think it's kind of cool to see some new "Medal of Honor" being awarded this year.

Re: Veterans Day

I'd be glad to sign, but I'm a citizen of the U.S.A., so I don't figure it would do any good.

Re: Veterans Day

While at the USAFM Waltz and I had the chance to talk to several WWII 8th A.F. veterans, and one C-47 navigator who flew during D-DAy. It was very cool to listen to them talk. I could have stayed for hours.

I can take umbrage, I can take the cake, I can take the A-Train, I can take two and call me in the morning, but I cannot take this sitting down. Now, if you'll excuse me, I'm going to take five.

Re: Veterans Day

I'll be participating in the local Remembrance Day parade here in Barrie tomorrow, along with several coworkers....weather is supposed to be lousy, but that's minor to what our vets had to put up with. Luckily, my wife is a strong supporter of our vets too and we'll both be heading down to the Legion with our friends to share some stories and draft with our local vets and their families.

We also participate in 'Red Friday' every week. A tradition started in Canada by the families and friends of our troops serving over in Afghanistan to show support for their mission by wearing a visible article of red clothing. 42 dead and countless wounded since the start of the mission. God Bless them.

As an aside, there's a petition being circulated on the net to have the Government of Canada provide a state funeral for the last WWI vet when he makes his final journey (There are 3 surviving WWI vets in Canada, all over the age of 100). A fitting tribute indeed. They need 50,000 signatures by tomorrow....its at ( www.dominion.ca/ state funeral ) if anyone cares to sign on.

Here's to all of the men and women currently serving in various theatres of war, and the support their families need during the long deployments. (We need some patriotic smilies on here I think)

Just to keep everybody up to date the motion passed through Parliment.
The petition got well over 90 000 signatures.
